I got so dissapointed when Alex sad he hated Birdman. I've been more or less on the same page as him regarding movies for as I can remember but I love Birdman.

How has no one mentioned the nonchalant announcement of a Halloween themed Film and Forties!? This is the best news I could have heard! Also, ironically, I just watch Return of the Living Dead a couple of weeks ago.

This Mega Man holds a special place in my heart because it was the first one I was able to see the credits. That is no surprise given how breezily Alex clocked this entry. Thank you for playing it and reminding me of my fond memories.

@sloppydetective: I don't know if Alex will have time to go in to his criticisms with Birdman, but please permit me to share one critique on the film that resonated with me:

THE FILM IS DOING THE SAME EXACT THING AS THE PLAY. WHICH BRINGS US BACK TO THE WHOLE IDEA HULK PROMISED IN THE INTRO: IF INARRITU IS COMPLETELY AWARE OF ALL THIS, THEN THE META INTENTION OF BIRDMAN MIGHT BE GENIUS:

HE IS GOING TO MAKE A TANGIBLE-DETAIL-SOAKED MESS OF SOMETHING THAT EQUATES TO NOT MUCH MORE THAN AN IGNORANT TANTRUM AND WE, THE AUDIENCE, ARE GOING TO EAT IT RIGHT THE FUCK UP... THE FILM LITERALLY CALLS THE SHOT.

WHICH TURNS IT INTO THE DARKEST CHARACTERIZATION OF ART THAT HULK CAN THINK OF.

BECAUSE EITHER INARRITU IS PEDDLING THIS GARBAGE, JUDGMENTAL VIEW OF ART AS PROFUNDITY - ORRRR HE IS COMPLETELY AWARE ENOUGH THAT THIS APPROACH IS PRECISELY THE KIND OF "ART" THAT CAN RESOUND THE BEST WITH THE GULLIBLE MASSES - MEANING WHEN IT IS AT ITS MOST-HOLLOW-YET-TANGIBLE. YOU CAN JUST SHOVEL A SERIES OF MEANINGLESS METAPHORS TOGETHER, IMBUE IT WITH ENOUGH OF YOUR OWN GENUINE INTERNAL ANGST, ADORN IT WITH ALL THE NECESSARY BELLS AND WHISTLES, AND GIVE IT THE CONNOTATION OF HOPE / SOULFULNESS / DESPAIR / AND THE AIR OF INTELLIGENCE. AND WE WILL PRAISE IT TO HIGH HEAVEN.

I enjoyed watching Birdman at a surface level; admiring the technical achievement and the great acting. But when I think about it, it's a story about an assholes making themselves and everyone around them miserable for... a shot at prestige? Or something? It came off as ugly for the sake of searching for some profound meaning. I'm not really sure since it's been so long since I watched it.

The one-shot take is amazing to look at though, and Keaton is just fantastic.

Maniac is incredible. I watched the whole thing and it's very good.

I love Alex when he's playing Mega Mans.

I love Vinny when he's filling gasoline cans.

I love Dan when talks about macaroni.

I love Abby 'cause she aint' no phony.

I'm eating "chewy style" cookies and drinking flat coca cola.

@eribuster: "ugly for the sake of some profound meaning" reminds me of one of my favorite Alex Navarro review lines. Regarding "Biutiful": "It's a blanket party of a film. It blindsides you and then assaults you with unpleasantness for two and a half hours."

I'd really like to see Alex take a break from main series Mega Man and play the Mega Man X. I've really enjoyed watching him play all of these and I've been hoping since the beginning that he would play Mega Man X.

Vinny's Dan expression at the start was great.

The "how do people see" bit reminded me once again that Dan's pretty much just a real life Charlie from It's Alway Sunny in Philladelphia.

Come on, Scarlet Spider is one of the best designs for Spider-Man.

The Punk Spider-Man suit is my unironic favorite costume (so far).

Fun fact: ホッチキス is the Japanese word for stapler. It's read as hacchikisu, or Hotchkiss, which was once the name of a company that made staplers. Basically a photocopy/Xerox situation, except it looks really weird to English speakers.

Look man, cum drenched walls are not a remotely modern thing so I am SUPER confused as to how Capcom thought that all looked normal.

I saw some tweet proposing that Michael Keaton should comeback as Batman in a Batman Beyond movie where he's an older Bruce Wayne teaching a younger new Batman based on the cartoon. And that is a fantastic idea IMO.
