As someone who played through Quake fairly recently, I gotta say... I think Quake kinda sucks.

Also, as someone who first played Quake 2 ages ago without having played Quake 1 first, Quake 2 is not as bad.

So me and my late 30s to mid 40s friends still do weekend long LANs once or twice a year. And in the mornings, we play quake to wake us up, any form of Quake, doesn't matter, so long as it's fast n shooty.

Anyway we call it Quake n Bacon.

This video is unavailable for me. I've been checking this page off and on since yesterday. was waiting to see a comment or the video fixed. but there's a new comment, and the video still seems broken from my point of view. :O

What's happening?

@brad I think you'd definitely enjoy playing the Arcane Dimensions mod for Quake - it's eight maps and a new start map and has some new enemies and guns but keeps gameplay in the original Quake tradition rather than going down the teenage Brutal Doom sort of route.
