I've just gotten into Rogue Legacy. Don't know if I want to watch (I watched part of the first video and enjoyed it) to avoid spoiling myself. Or do I just watch and still just do it myself anyway?

Please tell me they figure out that the Architect locking the castle lets you teleport straight to the boss room (provided it has been found).

Ha, there is literally a pretty good rookie pitcher on the St. Louis Cardinals named Daniel Poncedeleon (same pronunciation) right now. Not sure if he's a fan of Rogue Legacy though; we should probably check.

I think Jan seems like a cool guy, but I cannot stand his graphic use on these streams. What is the point in a running timer? All we need is the game and their faces, that’s it. I just started, but there have been no cuts I could tell so far, come out on the couch and talk.

Edit: It now appears that Jason was in the control room so I apologize to Jan. And to Jason I say, Come on Man. Also changed some of the wording for clarity and because it was harsher than intended.

At the start of this video, I didn't know what game they were playing either, and thought, "what if Ben swerves into Kingdom Hearts?" Jeff would just leave immediately in disgust.

I dont know what it is but something about the movement or the camera in this game gives me a massive bout of vertigo every time I see it to the point where I have to listen to this video and not watch it.

the only bad item is the hedgehog's curse, all the others are pretty useful, its worth it imo. and the hedgehogs curse is profitable if you pick up all the coins you drop iirc

it seems like he found some sort of premade sports ui thing in their software and put it on this video for fun. it doesnt obscure anything. no reason to get upset about it

@400lb_gorilla: The timer is part of the sports ticker look, which is a great motif for two counters that are at odds with each other "Pro Moves," and "Deaths." The timer is superfluous to add to the reference of the ticker, but that's kind of the humor in it.

I was hype for the graphic as soon I saw it. Looked dope and I like the idea.

I actually like the scoreboard quite a bit, it helps a ton when you jump into a live show late or have the video running in the background and you come back to it

Fucking love how the term "rogue-lite" was seemingly engineered to generate as much confusion as possible by sounding incredibly similar to "rogue-like," really glad that caught on

@entireties: From what I remember, I had the impression that I would lose at least half my gold during the moments before my demise. My avoidance of the shrines is telling of my personality, I think. I'd rather not risk getting a sonic than chance it and get something beneficial, even though that's much more likely.

Brad needs that Hedgehog's Curse on all of the time to train himself to be less sloppy in how he approaches the game. He's also a bit too much of a downer on the appeal of the series he wants to do, in terms of thinking nobody wants to see him play through Rogue Legacy even if it takes longer than just being an expert getting through the bosses with ease.

Brad being surprised at some of the talk in the comments and then immediately lamenting the idea of grinding to victory was very funny.

Also, doesn't the Sonic curse drop more gold than you had on you? Or did they patch that out?

The added graphics are fun.

It's always interesting and maybe a little sad when you click on a posters history and see that basically the only thing they post about is one thing. In this case, it's the graphics. My dude, if it's that important to you send a PM or something. All posting about it in the comments each time it so strikes you does is kind of make you sound like a jerk (especially when it's something the majority of people like).

Every time I see someone play this I try to get back into it, and every time I remember how miserable I am whenever I play this game. There's just... nothing about it that I enjoy.

Which is weird, because I like Metroidvanias, platformers, and Roguelites. In fact, I fucking LOVE Dead Cells right now.

@vicious17: Even as someone that played this thing almost as much as possible when it first came out (and came back when they updated it) it doesn't really lend itself naturally to quality play like something like, as you mentioned, Dead Cells does.

I've the game and the entire aesthetic it has, but trying to go back to it seems almost impossible in light of the leaps the genre has made (at least, as far as how I enjoy it).

Breaking Brad is the best!

Enter the Gungeon is good and the recent update made it a lot better for someone not that amazing at it (me). Previously never beat the third floor boss in maybe 30 hours, beat the 5th floor boss shortly after the update dropped (thanks mainly to Elder Blank + FMJ) and have been playing a lot more since. I haven't played many other Rougelikes but EtG is super charming.

They talk about Kirby being the most delicious Nintendo character, but have they seen Gerudo Link?

The secret to this game is that it's actually a big ol' grind-fest. This becomes more and more apparent as you keep going through NG+ cycles. Locking the castle is really handy when you are trying to beat a specific boss. Teleporting there with full health is nice.

Hokage is a really good class early in the game (i.e. on your first playthrough), but as you progress through NG+ cycles you want to dump points into crit damage and crit chance and then play as Assassin. His DPS becomes insane.
