Unfinished: Code Vein (05/08/19)

Wow this game fell off the radar for a while. I thought this was the switch game with cyber dogs though... This is some god eater looking stuf.

So Man Bead

I was wondering recently what happened to this game. Felt like it got delayed and then dropped off the face of the Earth.

video is a little jerky. (it isn't the game as other YT peeps didn't have this issue.)

You had me at anime.

Co op kinda kills it for me. AI partners or not.

When Man Bead and Woman Bead get together, Baby Bead is the result.

Hmm. I hadn't heard of this one before; there was no radar for it to drop off for me. Looks interesting, though I'm hoping it leans back more into Dark Souls and less into anime button-mashing.

Also, really hoping there's more interesting environments later in the game.

Looks pretty generic to me, but i will say that the breadcrumb trail on the minimap is super cool.

Video/footage seems to have some awful frame drop. Hard to watch.

EDIT: Looked up GameInformer's footage today and it looks good, so it's something with GB's footage. Please fix if you can, guys.

As for game, very excited for it. I'm in the minority that loves these Dark Souls inspired games, even if they are half-assed (Lords of the Fallen was great!)

This looks like a game to keep my eye on, I'd really like to play an anime Souls-esque game!

This looks pretty rough, considering how long it's been. Things like the lack of a chest opening animation, the awkward cutscenes and the placeholder-tier VO. Reminds me of a cheaper game like Let It Die, but I'm sure this was announced main stage at E3 or TGAs or something so surely there's some budget.

Still, the character creator looks neat and if it's actual co-op and not just AI partners might be fun enough with some friends.

As a souls fan and a tales fan I was kinda excited about this game, but this looks pretty bad tbh. Guess it'll be a wait and see rather than a day-one for me.

I like the look of Code Vein and it has the potential of being really cool. I hope to see more soon.

The item description, after you pick something up, pops up OVER the map and it drives me CRAZY! WHY WOULD YOU DESIGN IT LIKE THAT! THERE'S SO MUCH SPACE TO USE!

Something about the character movement and camera just seems really jerky to me on all the footage I've seen. The bad anime VO doesn't help.

Still, I'm mildly interested, we'll see how it shakes out. I guess it still doesn't have an exact release date.

Hm, cautiously optimistic about this one. The ai is a bit too chatty for my taste and seems to do too much too easily, but if they are optional that might be fine. Also depends on how anime it is. I'm allergic to high quantities of anime.

That's not a jacket, its like a cape - like those ones that over only one shoulder.

Unless they changed their minds, the companions are optional most of the time.

That's some good character customization.

With the variety of attacks, weapons, and the possibility of an ally, I can really see this scratching a monster hunter itch for @unastrike. Looks more appealing to me than most other souls games.

e: And then Ben mentions monster hunter at the end so I guess I wasn't the only one thinking it.

I'm always game for a Dark Souls type of game. This seems to be closer to God Eater games though, so that tempers my expectations a bit. The footage looked pretty rough at times too.

Jason has become the GB Namco Bandai aficionado, he seems to really enjoy their games. This could be my chance to try a Souls style game, as the original series is a bit Knights of the Round for my liking 🤗.
