Thanks for the podcast!

@wcarle A random question, do you guys ever go over why the carousels on the homepage are sorted by date descending and the carousels on the video pages are sorted by date ascending? I can see the reasons behind it but I would love hear your thoughts on it if you haven't covered it.

Hey,

Great podcast as per usual. Two unrelated questions;

What browser as a user that doesn't rely on extensions should I use? I switched to Firefox a few months back because Chrome became a memory hog and now Firefox is using 2GB of memory for 3 tabs (two of them the same twitter feed)

Question 2: Dan, I've always been on windows so never had the opportunity to use Sketch. If I'm not doing UI/UX/app/web design but more general imagery stuff like advertising campaigns etc. is it worth trying to get a Mac in or am I not going to get a great deal out of it?

P.S. Picture of the Whiteboard wall pls

@trip___: I wouldn't worry about Sketch in that case, it's meant for UI work almost entirely. Adobe apps are still great for graphic design.

Not sure where else to ask this question. On the old site any comment could be flagged by a user so a mod could look at it. I've had some pretty gross stuffed messaged at me.

On the new site I don't see any such option. Was it removed? And if so, when will that option or a superior replacement show up?

@john_wiswell: probably got removed due to the massive amount of flags for things that shouldnt be flagged , like taking offense at peoples opinions ,the flag button wasnt there for 'im offended' it was there to report breaches of the site rules. and even then im sure they receive an inordinate amount of spam for things that they were already working on (preventing the forum spam bots for instance)

as for a superior option it already exists , message a mod directly , obviously this is more effort than pressing a flag button , but it is more effective

if anyones messaging you with 'pretty gross' stuff then please dont hesitate to report it via any means available

stay safe duder

@john_wiswell: heya! There’s a downward-facing arrow at the top right corner of each comment. You should have the option to flag from there. But if it doesn’t show up definitely let us know.

@danauer, I'm just chiming in to confirm that I too am not seeing an arrow pointing down on any comments. For what it's worth, Windows 10/Firefox 64.0.

I also do not have an arrow pointing down. Windows 10/Chrome 71.

EDIT: I can edit my own posts with an arrow that pops up there, but I can't do anything to other posts.

@danauer: Came here to ask about this - I also don't have that arrow. I'm on Windows 7, Firefox 64.

E: Just checked, and I don't have it on Chrome 71 either. nor in whatever my Google browser is called on my Galaxy S5 (I know this is too vague to be all that helpful, but I can't figure out what program it is. I think it might be Chrome, though).

You mentioned that red is a great fit for GB because it invokes explosions, but also try to get rid of the red because it's apparently a color that you generally want to avoid in webdesign. How are you able to give a site a fun personality that fits the brand when you're working with different shades of black & grey? Are there any adjacent colors that might become more prevalent on the site? like orange?

Thanks for the show :)

@onemanarmyy: Great question! Short answer is adding more colors. Hoping to expand the palette this year where it makes sense ??

Thanks for continuing these podcasts! Always fun to learn about the 'behind the scenes' that goes into making the site.
