They should rename these to "Old Man Angrily Plays a Game for an Hour". Love Jeff and love Dying Light.

Aiden sounds like Great Value Troy Baker

@skullcrushermountain: That's what I was getting at, as far as I can tell it doesn't take anywhere near 10 hours of playing this game to acquire the traversal skills, I believe most of it is tied to main quests which is why I posted that I think he's been futzing around with side stuff for 10 and done maybe a main quest or two in this video. DL1 is the same exact way and I loved it. You start off pretty underpowered and every zombie is scary, by the end you are literally spiderman and a single zombie goes down like nothing. The journey/build is interesting to me but I can totally see why someone like Jeff doesn't enjoy it. I just wish GB had someone on staff still who was willing to play these types of games without nitpicking every little thing so Jeff didn't have to and he could go play apex/cod or whatever.

But also - he's only level 2 after 10 hours of playing? Something's jacked about the game's progression system fundamentally, I think.

Shoutout to the guy in twitch chat during this quick look (and probably most quick looks) who was harping on Jeff for being too negative. This game is boring AF. There are so many combat/parkour moves that other zombie games give you in the first hour that Dying Light 2 locks behind many hours of grinding. It's also just another ubisoft-formula open world game with a generic zombie fiction story.

Pray for me, I've asked for a refund after playing it for 4.7 hours.

I think the worst (or best?) part of this experience was going to the steam front page and finding out Ghostwire Tokyo comes out at the end of March. Had no idea that game was so close. If I get my $60 back, I know where it's going.

Edit: My refund was not approved. :(

I can't, for the life of me, figure out what they used development time on, except for just "adding more stuff," regardless of the implementation. Content, but at what cost. It's all so passe.

That chase sequence, holy shit. It looked bad the entire time and it ended bad.

@skullcrushermountain: that overall level system is not something that ticks up quickly. your parkour and combat skills do go up often and are truly how you level up. that overall system is a light gating mechanic for the map and after beating the game I was only level 6

The amount of disdain he has for this game is hilarious to behold.

I recently put in 60+ hours into the original Dying Light. I loved it despite its flaws and recorded an episode of my podcast about it (coming soon). I watched this quick look on Feb 2nd and decided that maybe Jeff and I just did not see eye-to-eye about Dying Light 2 as the new game looked like it wasn't without merit and maybe I'd dig it. And then I played Dying Light 2 and found myself agreeing with everything Jeff said in this quick look. Having Destiny-style menus on a controller, Ubisoft-style bloat and exploration all coupled to a stamina system that is less forgiving that Breath of The Wild's just makes for a bafflingly un-fun game.

@domineeto: for a person like me who only get 30 hours at most a month to play, that's a lot of trust you are asking for. Perhaps they should of made it fun from the get go instead of asking for you to dedicate almost a full time jobs week to "get good"

This seems dire. Out of all the games you could play, past and present, why would you choose this?

@mistercoke: Bro... this looks like ass.

This game got a lot of praise from other outlets. Watching this, I'm not exactly sure how. It looks pretty rough

I'm 36 hours in on PC, and it's an improvement on all aspects over the first game. I've had no crashes or issues like that, but havent tried co-op and I've heard console version is less stable.

If i remember correctly, Jeff was not really into the first game, it was more Brad's jam.

Pro tip: Focus on main quests until you get the grappling hook
