It looked fine, but I wasn't too impressed with how the cars looked taking corners. Granted, it's not finished. Just saying, there wasn't much that screamed "HE'S MAKIN' A LEFT TUURN!"

Man, police helicopters are always peppering the streets with minigun fire in Chicago. It's a real headache going anywhere.

Woah, first time I've seen the word trainers being used on Giant Bomb, thought you guys only used the word sneakers over there.

Need for Speed? Eeeehhhh. Show me a new Burnout game, that's what I want to see.

Too many QTE's in this. Seems pretty meh, although im interested in how they are going to implement the running mechanic into game play.

So...

He jumps god only knows how many feet from one building to the next onto concrete (not smashing his legs in the process).

He then jumps from that building to the next one grabbing onto the metal stair thingies (not pulling his arms off or dislocating anything)...

Only to survive a horrific car crash near the end.

Load of old bollocks init?

Hm. The jump the character makes after the helicopter opens fire would have almost certainly killed/crippled him.

Oh wow, they recreated that underground street where the Joker chased Harvey Dent's truck through.

The running just looks like a quicktime event. Probably to keep people on their toes while playing rather then just having a video playing to carry the story. I'm interested and give it a shot.

Not to get all high-horsey here, but 2 things:

1. The VO says "civilian helicopter." It's not police shooting civilians; I would assume it's the mob based on the "Mob closing in" message at the beginning.

2. Are you seriously gonna criticize an action sequence for a character falling a ridiculous distance without crippling himself? Jesus, when did you all become so jaded? You know what else is unrealistic? A dinosaur falling into a pool of lava only to survive and appear unscathed in a new castle.

Lighten up, folks. It's just a video game.

Well, after Chicago's experience with Midtown Madness, I'm not surprised that they've taken more comprehensive action against traffic violators. ;]

if this is indeed the frostbite 2 engine, my hopes for the console versions of BF3 just went up a little.

That's not really the right attitude though is it?

Your right though, there are better examples of laziness and inaccuracy in games to criticize. I just think that it's a shame that with all the nice tech & talent available for games now there seems to be so little innovation with ideas. Everything seems all motion control this and 3d that and lets bang in some quicktime events to make this game seem more like a movie. Plus other general laziness like, oh lets make an rpg, but wait for it this time with...magic and elves and shit.

Apart from a few exceptions (well made sequels to already popular games), I feel pretty jaded about the games on show at E3 and the direction video games are taking in general.

Nothing wrong with going over previous ideas for a new take or an improvment I just wish that didn't account for 90% of games being released.

I'd have to agree. I was just looking over my games collection, and realized that only 9 out of the 48 games currently on my shelf are originals. And sure sequels can be a good thing, but the lack of truly original content at this year's E3 disappointed me.

That said, I think that if you look towards to download/indie scene, you'll find a lot more of that originality you've been looking for. Games like Bastion and Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet, for example, look totally awesome.

I'd have to agree with that sentiment, it would seem that the indie scene is fast becoming the main area for innovation. I loved Osmos which was a simple yet cool little game and am very much looking forward to Twisted Shadow Planet as well.

Maybe it's the jerking screen, but it kind of gives me an arcade vibe I haven't seen in years.

I feel like this is a reaction to the people on NFS forums that are like "Can I get out of the car"?  -.,-
