The world of Colorado!

A dude called Rob Da Bank being an advisor isn't reassuring but the game looks fun. I love the idea of the Forza physics in an open world game. Hopefully the livery stuff is still there.

I'm excited for this, looks great, reminds me of PGR mixed with the best things about Forza. Playground games has ex-Bizarre guys right?

Kind of reminds me a bit of Test Drive Unlimited with the map slowly lighting up with roads you've driven down. I was worried watching the trailer, got a Need For Speed Pro Street vibe though the demo has allayed my fears somewhat. Nice chunky UI too.

This looks a lot more interesting than thought it would. I'm not a fan of arcade racers. A combination of arcade style gameplay and simulation styled physics could be a win.

This looks so good. I'm a big Forza, DiRT, PGR and TDU fan, and even though the TDU games weren't without their quirks, I still sunk a couple hundred hours into them. This looks like the sequel I really wanted to the original TDU. The Colorado environment is pretty interesting, as is the day/night cycle they've got, and that GPS system is exactly what it should be. Really curious at this point as to if any of the painting/tuning stuff has made its way into this game, since they haven't even said anything about it as far as I know, I'm guessing that might've taken a back seat for this first release.

Sorry but Need For Speed Most Wanted Burnout Paradise that comes out a week later is getting my money. Bad release window imo. I wonder what the Porsche/Ferrari status is on both games...

I don't know, with the changes they seem to have made, it just doesn't feel like a forza game anymore... but maybe I just need to play it to know for sure.

This looks pretty great. Both gameplay- and graphics-wise. Can't wait for taking that Abarth 500 on the highway and other asphalt roads or the Impreza (assuming there's one in the game) on the dirt roads.

@Winsord: On the Gamespot stage demo Dan Greenawalt confirmed that all the painting features of Forza Motorsport are in Horizon.

This video just sold me on the game. Looks fantastic. Also glad to hear cat and mouse is going to be in there.

There's something weird about a scripted demo in a small room like this. An interview would have been much more interesting.

Yea I listened to about half of his shit, most of it was copy he'd been reading all day it seems. Blah blah blah experience, blah blah blah rubber meets the road. Shut the fuck up it's a driving video game, open world, cars and fast speeds... play the damn game.

Though no fault of his own, I can understand why presentations like these can start to wear on the guys who cover them. I know that guy is just hitting the bullet points he needs to, but it's so scripted that I think it sells the game short a little. I suppose though, that is why these are shown to writers because they wil just use the necessary info that they need. That being said, I'm definitely interested in this. I took a pass on F4 after playing the shit out of the previous game, but having an open world to use that sort of "simulation" driving in sounds like lot of fun. Unfortunately, the one racing game I played more of this generation was made by Criterion, and I think that is where my money will go this fall

Between this and NFS, is this the year of the good open world driving game? I am probably gonna get both, I have already preordered Most Wanted, just waiting to see if there is a limited collectors of Horizon. I personally would rather have seen a more urban environment, though. But maybe there is a decent sized city they haven't shown yet, who knows.

I wouldn't count on it. Driving culture tends to prefer the kinds of roads you don't see anywhere near an urban environment.

An open world Forza sounds potentially amazing to me. I've got quite a few questions about what they're gonna include but they definitely have my attention.

I love that Forza 4's shitty shiny road shader is even being applied to the dirt a little bit in Forza Horizons.

Edit: and as somebody who's lived in Colorado 20 years, I am not entirely sure this feels totally representative. I've never been in places in Colorado that look super desert-y like that.

Kind of looks like Castle Rock to me. If anything, there was too much vegetation around -- everything is always so dead and brown in Colorado except for like 3 weeks out of the year. Grand Junction, Castle Rock, Pueblo, hell, the Great Sand Dunes National Park, they're all pretty desert-y. Though, I've been living in Colorado 6 years longer than you :P

I've always thought Colorado would make a great place for a racing game. With sand dunes, eastern plains for farm land, Denver Metro city streets, mountain passes, it has nearly every terrain you could think of.

Much kudos, because man... a live demo isn't the place for a retrospective on the development unless it's REALLY SUPER DUPER critical to what you're about to show in game.

Anyway, I love Forza and I expect I'll have barrels of fun with this.

Seems to me like the long lost PGR5 game we've been waiting for. I'm looking forward to this one, since they have ex-Bizarre members working on it. Loved Blur and PGR and I think Forza is pretty nice too, so this game I'm really looking forward to it.

Wow, the day/night cycle is very impressive.

This is the Forza game I've wanted since growing bored of track racing in Forza 3: their realistic physics out on the street. Awesome.

Started watching this very skeptically, didn't like the way it handles to begin with, looked too much like Test Drive or NFS.

By the end of the vid... quite intrigued, looks fairly different in approach to Forza, but that doesn't by any means imply that it won't be fun! Looking forward to it!

Looks like they've taken a lot of queues from Test Drive Unlimited, which is no bad thing as despite being a bit janky was rally enjoyable in parts. Looking forward to this!
