NFS looks like more NFS: HP 2010, and I am down with that.

That big nose character in A Way Out looks like Josef Fares because he is clearly played by Josef's actor brother Fares Fares. Both face and voice match. Really curious about that game.

A Way Out was the only thing that really appealed to me at this conference. Battlefront 2 might be great, but it was shown off really poorly here.

For a 90 minute presentation, there wasn't really a lot of meat to chomp on outside of the sports stuff and the 30 minutes of Battlefield just ended up making the game look boring rather than exciting.

If they were trying to make Battlefront 2 look like the least exciting thing ever they really knocked it out of the park.

Honestly EA had a better conference than I expected. Granted it had its cringeworthy moments (The Tom Brady Drum Band, the BF1 Youtube montage), but I was honestly not expecting 2 new IP announcements. Star Wars Battlefront 2 might be a really solid shooter, but that showing wasn't great. Need for Speed Payback looks promising too.

Was not feeling it today.

  • Sports games are not my thing, that's fine.
  • The new NFS didn't look very fun to actually play from that trailer, hopefully it gets more interesting when they show the open world.
  • They mentioned Anthem, but no real new information about it aside from the title.
  • BF1 coverage, get why they had it, but not interesting as someone who's not invested in Battlefield.
  • A Way Out is definitely interesting, my main concern would be gameplay execution (I'm sold on the premise, acting, etc). Hopefully that ends up being good.
  • A kind of sloppy demo of Battlefront 2 that went on for too long, generally poor commentary.

I'll continue to hold out hope that they'll make another Skate game someday. Positive takeaway is they're doing two new IPs.

Let's see...

2 Needy 2 Speedy looked like it might be good, but let's be honest, it probably won't be.

A Way Out had an interesting premise, so I look forward to seeing how EA messes the game up.

A Battlefront game set in the most beloved of the Star Wars movies, the prequels. Pass.

I'm sure the sports games will do well for them, but I'm not interested in them.

I don't trust Bioware to make a good game after Inquisition and Andromeda, so we'll see if Anthem will be anything good.

Why are people so down on this? The influencer shit was embarrassing but I thought the games looked solid.

To each their own I guess

@johnny_sailor: Battlefront 2 encompasses all three movie eras, not just the prequels. The Story mode itself takes place after the events of Return of the Jedi. They probably just decided to show off Theed since the prequel stuff wasn't in the last Battlefront. Also, as much as people don't like the actual movies, I think there's still a lot of love for the art design of the different troops, droids, and vehicles in the prequels.

Spoiler alert: This conference was terrible. They spent all of two minutes talking about literally any games that aren't direct sequels / DLC to existing games.

A Way Out looks cool, Need For Fast could okay and Battlefront looked like Battlefront.

Other than that, this conference was fecking tedious. Most of the conference, all I was thinking was 'just get on with it'. It felt like 45 minutes of content, stretched out for 1 hour+.

@coolarman: I think the issue is less the games and more the structure of the conference. Over the past few years most E3 conferences have trimmed down on "Company exec comes out and rants about games for 10 minutes, then shows a 1 minute trailer" for obvious reasons. EA seems to feel like padding out a conference that they don't have the games to fill with people talking while saying nothing is a good idea. It isn't.

@anwar: Big part of these conference commentaries is the GB guys riffing on them. That includes poking fun at the people in them. It's all in good fun, I'm sure they don't mean anything bad by joking that the bearded twitch stramer vapes. But let's be honest, he probably does.

And take note that they didn't shit on the guy who messed up his lines presenting the new Need for Speed. That would actually be a shitty thing to do, imo. As Jeff said, he's probably a genuine nice dude who's not used to reading off teleprompters like a fucking robot, not to mention it probably broke.

A Way Out and the new NFS look pretty promising. Other than that, in my opinion, this was the worst E3 Press Conference I've seen since the worst of the Konami ones. Poor pacing, poor presentation, and few games worth caring about. That last section in particular was excruciating... I thought Janina Gavankar actually did quite well, and would like to see her back in an Aisha Tyler-like role; but yeah... Really poor conference.

Thank you, GB duders for talking over it though! Made it 5x more interesting than the naked stream I watched.

I felt like I watched a different video than Dan when he said this was a solid press conference.

Oh it was solid all right... you know, all they had to do was come out swinging with a 20 min gameplay of the single player of Star Wars to shut us all nerds up instead the most exciting part of it was the Need for Speed gameplay.

EA is lucky they don't need to sell any one on their products but it would have been nice to see some actual games and not just sports and BF 1.

A tragically respectable bellwether for things to come after last year's 10-celebrity pileup. Games look fine I guess but I'm not here for those.

A way out sounds up my alley. The sportsgames are not doing anything exciting. BF1 DLC & Starwars BF 2 feel like very similar games. A gritty serious one and a lighthearted sci fi one. Good to know there will be a campaign though.

Overall not a great presentation, but if Anthem is cool, my opinion of EA will probably be a bit better. Bit awkward to have 2 truly new things to show and one of them not being at your own show. The Battlefront 2 stuff went on way too long.

A couple of nice things shown like A Way Out but get the same feeling every year of EA would be better off like Activision of just having their stuff shown during the Big 3 conferences.

So that coop game he said it was only able to be played as local 2 player coop but others on other forums are saying it has online so which is it? It seems like you have to be in the same room because it would suck ass to have your screen split if playing online just to make sure you are forced to see the story on both sides of another player hopping up and down and tea bagging all the other NPCs. Its going to be a real treat if there is just random match making.

EA took a decent, if relatively small, selection of games (mostly attached to popular franchises and brands) and a worldwide live streaming event...And made it boring. It's like they couldn't decide if they wanted to do a Presser or one of those direct-to-the-fans style looser, longer streams so they tried to do both. Result was a badly paced, poorly structured oddity with wildly fluctuating levels of professionalism, self-awareness and sincerity. They also only had two real reveals, one of which was just a tease for a real unveiling at its co-marketing platform holder's Presser, so they opted to spend that huge chunk of time on Battlefront II. Which wasn't a bad idea. What they did with that time though? Almost completely pointless. That gameplay demonstration did nothing for me. They were jumping around at random while the "commentary" ploughed through a script which often bore no relation to what we were actually seeing.

@steveurkel: I don't know how the online will work, but I assume it is mainly there in order for you to still play with a friend but you don't have the ability to be in the same room together. Maybe there will be some random matchmaking element to it as well, but like you said I don't think most people would want to play with a random stranger since it is such a demanding co-op experience. Like Fares said he wanted to make a game that was not a "drop in, drop out" co-op game. So being matched with someone who has a shitty connection, has to leave in the middle of it, or someone who refuses to play the game properly would suck.
