The title sounds like it should end with "pants on fire".

This was the JAM back in my C64 days.

I just had a wave of nostalgia seeing that flashing vat of RADIOACTIVE WASTE and could actually smell the hot cocoa I spilled on the carpet in my room. It never really got out and if I really stuck my nose down there it was chocolatey goodness for weeks.

Huh, I always confused 2049er with Miner Willy. Didn't have either back in the day.

Never heard of this, but it does look pretty cool. I like the changing mechanics, that wasn't at all common back then.

Fond memories of this one on the C64 - the sequel Bounty Bob Strikes Back was infuriating though.

Those sounds are absurd and really loud... I know the game is old but wouldn't it have been better for it just to have been silent? Maybe at the time loud beeps were immersive?

The Quake cap is a dead giveaway...well, that and QL Crew showing part of his face as well. I don't think I've touched Quake 2 since the 90's, excited!

Never played or seen this before, but I remember Jeff mentioning it a few times in the past, so this is cool to finally see the game he was talking about.

It's also nice that we're getting all of these Encyclopedia Bombastica entries while the office is being moved.

Cool, I'm glad there are a bunch of Bombastica's for the next couple days. This is the most under rated Giant Bomb show.

This game started on the Apple ][ IIRC. Although given how ports were done back then sometimes the ports were better than the original.

It was clearly designed to be somewhat like Donkey Kong but not too much.

The floaty jumping in this game drove me crazy.

I played a ton of Apple II version of this along with CanonBall Blitz back in the 80's. This latest crop of Bombasticas is a flashback to my childhood. Keep 'em comin'!

Another great game for the Apple II (that would make a good Bombastica) was Captain Goodnight. The graphics were pretty spectacular back in 1985 for the Apple II.

It's interesting to see all this content about old games while they're arguing about the best, recent games. Do you think the classics we remember years later are the same games chosen as GotY when they first came out? Or do you think the classics we remember were usually beaten in GotY lists by other games that were more contemporary?

Surprising amount of variety, was expecting it to be more one-note lik Loderunner. Shame one the level count though, but I guess sacrifices had to be made to get that variety?

Really digging the surge of Bombasticas as well. Keep it up!

Between this and Lode Runner, it's been interesting looking at the Atari versions of the games I played on C64 as a kid; the C64 versions of both those games are very similar to what Jeff's shown in his last two Bombastica entries!

Playing Miner 2049er would always get me in the mood to play Hard Hat Mack. Pity I've gotta go to work right now, because that's totally what I'd be doing!

Just a personal thought: I like the short and sweet format of this one. I like the EB videos because I love to see older games and why they are important to you guys, but a lot of times they end up dragging.

This is one of the first games I played. I played it on a commodore 64. That was a good 27-28 years ago and I still remembered seeing some of these levels. I share Jeff's feeling about loving this game.
