Sega should be ashamed, making a game where the hero is an ex-Nazi:

Those Disney platformers back in the day were fantastic especially in co-op. I don't know why they don't port them as downloadable titles but my guess it's all about dem licensing issues.

The Donald comics are hugely loved in Europe. Carl Barks set it off, Don Rosa took it further. Don Rosa is an actual superstar in several European countries, genuinely the most famous comic book artist/author of any genre. For good reason - he's done amazing stories. Witty, gritty, full of detail and life and even historical context. Highlight probably being the epic saga "The Life & Times of Scrooge McDuck". You can buy his Duck works in chronological order from Fantagraphics' new collections The Don Rosa Library.

Wow! A "Duck" Dunn reference! That is only slightly less timely than this game.

I'm currently collecting the Carl Barks set from Fantagraphics and it's great. Really loving the old classics. And talking about Indiana Jones and Donald Duck; Lucas and Spielberg said that Indiana Jones was partially inspired by Carl Barks' Donald Duck comics.

Warning: this game features depictions of cannibalism.

Also I guess Dracula is a perennial enemy of the Duck family, are they related to the Belmonts

It makes me so sad that most of the GB guys are pretty oblivious to all the great Disney comics, and even the shorts. They were on constantly on the Finnish channels, and the comics were everywhere. I think even a few years ago, the Donald Duck comic was the most subscribed weekly publication in Finland, with around 55% of households subscribing. And even Comicvines Disney stuff was pretty lackluster a few years ago when I checked.

I actually prefer Looney Tunes, but some of the Donald shorts were brilliant

And if we're going to Donald Duck shorts, this is easily my favourite (might be because they show it, or used to at least, every christmas on telly.)

That's not an uncle though. An uncle is the brother of one of your parents. The man married to your aunt isn't really an uncle.

There are a lot of mechanics here that remind me of early PC platformers.

Collecting items to open up different levels on a world map is a very Commander Keen and Crystal Caves thing. Weapon upgrades remind me of Duke Nukem 1. Enemies dropping food reminds me of Prehistorik. It's crazy how all those little things make their way into platformers as the years go by.

Also, the Doki Doki / SMB 2 thing of being able to jump up on blocks which prevents you from moving forward and needing to avoid jumping to get through was always a pain in the ass.

The Ducks have a long and storied lineage. Alarmingly so.

That's not an uncle though. An uncle is the brother of one of your parents. The man married to your aunt isn't really an uncle.

Here's a dictionary definition from Merriam-Webster:

"UNCLE noun un·cle \ˈəŋ-kəl\ : the brother of your father or mother or the husband of your aunt"

emphasis mine. Uncles (and aunts) are not necessarily related by blood unless you have an extremely specific definition of "family."

On topic, I've always hoped either this or the NES Ducktales would get a Encyclopedia Bombastica since the Ducktales Remake QL. Also, at this point, I'm happy for ANY E.B. content! ;)

Wait what? That's literally what an uncle is. I call the man who is married to my mother's sister my uncle.

Also, that Goof Troop game on SNES was amazing. It was like a Co-op Link to the Past.

I was much more familiar with Lucky Dime Caper on the Master System because I slummed it without a Genesis.

It was much more like Castle Of Illusion and a better game IMO.

It's probably because both Drew and Jason are out (at least Jason was out when they recorded this). Jeff uploaded this video, so him, Dan and Brad were probably by themselves.

This is a standard non-live stream setup. The commentary in Quick Looks, Bombasticas, MGS, Breaking Brads is recorded separately from the game audio and headphones help to keep it from bleeding over and improves audio quality. It also makes them focus on a game more easily.

re: disney games that had an effect on your childhood

i played the CRAP out of Adventures in the Magic Kingdom for the nes. I could never get very far in the Pirates stage and the Haunted Mansion stage legit scared the crap out of little 6-year-old me. that game was hard as hell, at least when I was a kid

Anyway, this game seems pretty cool, thanks for the bombastica! Wouldn't mind seeing some more of these.
