Endurance Run: Shenmue - Part 16

This episode is literally a waste of time.

I hate to be that guy but I just wanted to say that this endurance run is kind of lame. Was it Jeff that said that acknowledging something as boring/not fun, doesn't make it any more entertaining/more fun? Maybe it's time to take a step back and admit this was not a good idea and stop? Isn't there a better feature you could be doing? How about some Kerbal? How about some adventure game? How about anything else?

Listening to Dan sing while staring at a watch go slowly round and round is a pretty good simulation of hell. This is "lol so randumb XD" tier of humour. Are people actually enjoying this? Is it their agony that is supposed to be pleasurable? Is it the fact that they keep flogging a dead horse every time they say there is nothing to do? Are we supposed to be trying to figure out if Dan is actually an idiot or just pretending?

By all means keep doing what you're doing but this whole feature is kind of lackluster.

There are only a few parts of the game where they actually have to wait, and that's mostly to encourage people to explore the game. There are still shops they haven't gone into, they could level up and acquire more moves, do the raffle, talk to story characters, and other things.

Keep in mind, all of this was pretty impressive when it came out, even it's not all that amazing now, but there's definitely more things to do in the game than what they did in this episode.

Don't lose sight of the fact that while we're watching one of these every day, they recorded large chunks of this through some marathon sessions - probably not the most ideal way to handle Shenmue.

I'm not saying there are no grounds for complaints, but just try to consider the frame of mind that Vinny, Dan, and Alex might be in at this point in the run.

Best episode in the ER? Yes... One of the Best pieces of Ginatbomb content? Fuck Yeah!

Ah...Dan is doing his "cat sings G n' R" and "Kermit sings Neil Young" shtick.

This game is still terrible. But this episode is amazing.

@scribble: No. I didn't realize they recorded the whole thing already. I though they were just doing like a weekly recording session and splitting it up like they normally do with Dan coming over Skype or something. Does it matter? Does it make it any better?

PS. Marathon sessions of Shenmue sound like the next best thing since water boarding.

Vinnys guitar skills deserve something better than Shenmue and Dans singing.

But Shenmue is an adventure game. You go around an area, talk to people, pick up objects and sometimes solve puzzles. Is that not what you did in Monkey Island?

If this is what my premium subscription is paying for I'm 100% on board and will pay even more.

I'm starting to believe "Shenmue" is the Chinese word for "enduring blushit" or something like that. Damn. I actually feel bad for them, playing large chunks of it to have recorded everything in advance. They must have felt awful at the end of the day. But at least it makes for some hilarious content! The guitar and Dan singing was so perfect, I had tears in my eyes from laughing so much.

Except Monkey Island and other adventure games made it interesting and compelling, while on Shenmue everything feels like doing a chore instead of having any kind of fun.

You... you must be joking, right? No sane person would actually say this seriously. What experience? The experience of spending a full in-game day looking at a watch or doing uninteresting window-dressing because there's nothing else better to do? Yeah, amazing experience!

This is an amazing episode and this is a horrible garbage game
