We obviously need a concert series with Vinny and Dan doing song covers. Also we need a buddy cop anime with Ryo and Fuku-san, in which it takes them hundreds of episodes to solve straight forward cases, because they are the biggest dopes on the planet.

This is the greatest Shenmue Endurance Run episode. Funny that the best part had almost nothing to do with Shenmue.

I agree. At the time I liked it because it was like nothing I ever played before (I was 14-15 at the time.) Nowadays there are so many open world-style games that have taken what Shenmue started and done so much more, which many people take for granted. Judging this game against your GTAs, Far Crys, Assasin's Creeds seems a little unfair, especially since a lot of the game's problems are indeed addressed in Part 2, and those games probably learned a great deal of what not to do from Shenmue.

I think Dan is a better singer when he's impersonating Kermit the Frog.

And while the game is not too hard that you absolutely need to train, it's still enjoyable doing the more elaborate moves in a fight than just button mashing every fight. But of course, Vinny has such a lackadaisical attitude that bothering to learn moves just for the enjoyment of doing them in a fight would be too much for him. Furthermore, the game explains how to train and level moves within the game's Help screen and manual, itself. “They bought cat food, but didn't have a prompt to use it, or were at the wrong time and place.” Again, if they'd bother to press the Help button when selecting an item, it states “in some situations you can use A or Y”. “They attempted to translate the scrolls, but none of the Chinese speaking people they talked to hinted to it being martial arts terminology they were unfamiliar with, just that it was wierd.” They asked the lady, but didn't ask the obvious ones, which was Master Chen or Gui Zhang. Afterall, Chen could easily read the original reversed Chinese kanji letter addressed to Iwao, and Gui Zhang is a Chinese martial artists, who may be versed in Chinese martial arts scrolls.

This is the best episode of ANY endurance run. And I've watched the persona 4 ER three times. I was nearly crying with laughter when Dan asked "Is this Oasis?" Holy shit. This is amazing.

Decided to get into the games myself, yeah, new to shenmue and everything! There's definitely so much stuff to fill in the time..I really like how the fighting feels, though I do screw up the QTE stuff sometimes. At some point they start branching them to lead to different things. I want to see where all the character stories go for sure. I really don't think anybody should even use good, actually competent playthroughs of this game like GT's and GameInformer's as representative of the game, but, so far its been positive.

Shenmue madness is setting in big time and I love it, best episode yet

When I first heard of Giant Bomb, I never could have guessed that, one day, I would be watching a Shenmue depression spiral turned in a particular brand of unhinged madness that would result in a man named Dan singing as Kermit the frog but, hey, here we are.

This is a beautiful journey we've all been on together.

Oh boy, the Dan/Vinny combo coming up soon is going to produce the best content Giantbomb has ever produced.

I'm actually terrified this will be the last ever Endurance Run.

Now I'm beginning to understand how the people who watched Metal Gear Scanlon with no prior knowledge of the series felt reading the comments. This is incredible, and I'm glad I have no idea what goes on in Shenmue games other than remembering the hype surrounding this game at the time so I can enjoy this for what it is. Hell, I'm pretty sure I'd enjoy this for what it is the way Dan is if I had played the game, same I did MGS despite Drew refusing to dig into its systems or mechanics as deeply as I'd have liked. There's a gleeful sadness to all this that makes for great background music and the voice acting is incredible to take at times out of context.

Shenmue is the best video game ever made

Furthermore, Ryo did say “So I have to buy a ticket first?". He was talking about the travel ticket he was saving to buy; it was the game's way of preventing the player from spending money at that time.

It's moments like this that i wish they had a face cam so we can see the rage on Vinny's face.

The musical interlude was pretty fun also.

Man this game is such bullshit. I must have never got this far I just remember opening a bunch of drawers. That or I just blacked out the abuse this game did to me.

Dan should be ashamed of his words and deeds for saying this is a good game.

Fantastic episode, please keep delivering the goods.

I liked the fusing episodes.

I think this game broke Vinny and Alex harder than Mario Party broke the west coast crew. This proves Dan is truly history's greatest monster who has a very questionable taste in games (except for Stardew Valley, which is a legitimately good game).

For anyone still thinking that Dan moving to GBEast is a bad idea, hush your mouths!

The games within Shenmue are better games than Shenmue itself, no matter what time period we're talking.

Yeah, how dare he want to get things done rather than aimlessly run around for 30 minutes. How could he possibly rush this amazing "experience".

I like how many time the argument has been "They have to be entertaining during these, they can't play like they would at home, they have to avoid dead air," and here we have then literally taking off to get some lunch. So much for that theory, right?

And for the record, I've never believed that a game should be played differently for videos. Play as you would! Explore!

I know we can fast forward the uploaded video but I wish you guys would've just cut to the elapsed time. I guess it adds some authenticity to the play-through though. You redeemed yourself by coming back and singing to us though.
