I have some really high hopes for this series.

I meant to be the first comment on here but here it goes anyway!

• I know this is not games related, but I hope the excitement and passion that Matt and I have for MMPR translates over to y'all.
• We're super open to suggestions on the show format wise, I know my mic here gets a little blown out. I may have been too hyped.
• GUESTS! I have a loose idea of folks I want to try and have on, so if you have any specific internet folks we'll see what we can try and do!
• I wanted to get a little spicier with the edits, so expect future episodes to have a little bit more bounce to the ounce as we proceed.

Here for this, the enthusiasm is great.

Most of my interest stemmed from the mechs and how rad they look when they go all gestalt-y. For the same reasons Devastator and Superion and Voltron and such were so cool.

I'm gonna try to watch along. I was too old for Power Rangers when it first came out ... and yet that totally didn't stop me from getting into it hard starting around the Green Ranger stuff.

I'm giving this a listen immediately! I'm a lifelong Power Rangers fan and am so excited to relive the show with y'all. It would be cool if y'all tapped into the Power Rangers and tokusatsu community as far as guests go. There's a wealth of knowledge there.

Oh man, I assumed this show would be commentary over clips from the episodes, but it makes sense GB wouldn't have the rights to do that. I'm still enjoying it though. I'm a bit worried for when the episodes start to drag together with filler, but I suppose you guys can just blaze through that stuff!

@janman: Rocco from Mega64 is a massive fan. I hope to see more crossovers with Mega64 in general.

The "this website must be about games only" deal is a bit old fashioned anyways. It's all about what you do enjoy doing and talking about! I'm always excited to hear anyone's current interests and hobby's.

At some point can we get any analysis of the power rangers my way videos and or other memes/cultural impacts, fan made shorts and such? (Probly asking too much but who knows how long this will run after they get through the first 50 episodes or so).

I consider myself Power Rangers - positive (like it, but not a fan), but when the intro started, like Jan said, it's so hype & brought back a number of memories! I enjoyed watching the four episodes & this podcast was really fun, I'm looking forward to the future episodes!

I don't have any programming notes/ideas, but Matt seems cool & I don't really know a whole lot of MMPR, but liked the "in things outside the episodes" - references. Hi Matt!

This was really fun to listen too! I might have to get my significant other to watch along with me :)

hello @janman , I don't know if anybody mentioned it yet but I recommend the Netflix show "toys that made us" the episode about power rangers

Oh hell yeah, really enjoyed this first episode! You guys should definitely check out the comics published by Boom! (Might Morphin Power Rangers and Go Go Power Rangers). They give each of the OG rangers so much more characterization.

I have 0 affinity for power rangers but I'm 15 mins in and I'm digging this. Thanks for trying something new @janman!

Interesting thing on the Black/Yellow ranger casting.

Supposedly originally Zack (meant to be Jason's closest friend) was going to be the blue ranger, but in the Zyuranger footage the black ranger was more of the second in command (and the blue ranger was the comedic relief) so Zack was shifted to black.

As for the yellow ranger, in the pilot episode, she was actually a completely different (non Asian) actress, named Audri Dubois. Rumor is that she had serious questions about pay/contract and was promptly let go (foreshadowing the season 2 red/yellow/black exodus), and the casting process started up again.

Also, you guys should totally look into the creation of what became known as "Zyu 1.5"/"Zyu 2" footage. Where Saban actually had the Japanese production team create new footage specifically for the American series. All sorts of new shots that cover everything from better voice sync for Rita, new monsters, and more "on brand" American character behavior for the costumed rangers (blue is shown as always having a new invention, the pink and yellow rangers interact more, green will try to protect pink, etc.). This stuff bled into season 2 which is why you don't see the thunder megazord actually interact with grown monsters until like 10 episodes in. Because technically those America specific monsters (Pirantishead, etc.) were actually fighting the Dino Megazord.

Honestly the entire series was interesting. The Movies version was also okay.

Digging the podcast but Jan called Turbo the first power rangers movie. Come on Jan, how you going to forget about Ivan Ooze in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie?
