Armed and Rangerous EP 01

Haven't thought much about Power Rangers since I was a kid but this was a great listen. Jan and Matt have a really good dynamic for this sort of show, I like hearing them nerd out together!

Just wanted to say that this rules! You both came at this the same way my brother and I did on our rewatch (i.e. looking to have fun, and not getting weirdly serious about it like a lot of people do when discussing if a kids show "holds up"), and it's a lot of fun a listen to! Matt being a fellow "I watched PR as a kid and now watch Kamen Rider and Sentai" is also cool to hear.

On that note: I know there's a lot of show to cover, but doing an episode where you watch some of Zyuranger and compare could be a lot of fun! There are official DVDs and it's streaming some places too (VRV and Shout Factory's website I believe).

Thirty minutes in and I love it! I watched both Zyuranger and Dairanger during the lockdown and they are a real trip at this point. I'd love to hear you two get into some of that at some point.

I think the Zords was also called that because the 'Z' from Zyurangers was quite visible in some places, most notably on the Mega Dragonzord.

Such a great episode. Really looking forward to more of this.

So the world record for bench press is monster. Also 1hr men's bodyweight bench most reps record is 1438 reps x 67kg.

The most accumulative weight bench pressed in one hour is 305,300 lb (138,480 kg). The record was set by Eamonn Keane (Ireland) at World Gym, Marina del Rey, California, USA on 22 July 2003. He did 1,280 reps with 200 lb (90.7 kg) and 493 reps with 100 lb (45.3 kg).

Did Jan say how often new episodes of this were going up?

I watched an episode of MMPR when I was 12 and I immediately dropped it because I thought it was the lamest show possible. They fought a monster that attacked them by playing an accordion, if I remember correctly. This might be one of those shows that work for very young kids, and adults who appreciate the earnest cheesiness. I might give it a try one of these days.

Am I the only person who was somewhat confused and a bit scared of the fact that the ranger outfits included lips and a lower-half of a face? I hope I'm not alone in this...

I've commented on all the other episodes at this point. I feel bad leaving out this one...
