Burgle My Bananas: Episode 01

This is a hot nightmare of rules but its still very entertaining! Love it!

i like the premise of the show, but why choose such an obviously bad game.

its boring to watch you play,. you dont look like you're having fun playing it.

why not use the same premise just use game thats entertaining and fun?

Like the premise, but I really don't know about the game. Something with a bit more action would've been nice. They mostly run around and struggle with controls here.

But let's see what kind of hot mess this turns into!

I kept thinking DK Country was the game, never even seen this one.

I was smack dab in the middle of college with only an NES when this came out. This looks terrible!

This first episode was everything I wanted it to be, but I will admit I'm afraid a lot of this series is going to boil down to them forgetting everything week-to-week, getting continually lost in DK64's absurdly huge levels, and generally being miserable.

I've had a really shitty couple days, and just six minutes into this video it feels like all the built-up stress and sadness has completely washed away. I'm smiling and feeling great. It may be a bit weird to say this after watching a man try to sell bananas for a videogame gameshow for six minutes, but I legitimately really appreciate this. Thanks, beasters.

It's a shame Dan doesn't like the wheel, but maybe it's just because it was bad for him so often.

I think it's fair to say that's exactly what happened. Alex very clearly hated playing Steal My Sunshine

@vinny or @danryckert get a food scale, zero out an empty glass, find the weight of a single banana runt. Now you can weigh everyone's count easily by weighing each glass and dividing the weight by the weight of a single runt from the total weight. It will make the recount system go much faster after each round.

"Why?" a lot of things, but specifically why DK64? It didn't age well, and now you're stuck playing it—probably forever. Yeah, the intro was fun, but you can only do that once. I would say call an audible on this one, but you already went through the trouble of getting all those DK props and set pieces.

Also, I now have an opinion about whether or not the original DK Rap is worse than the remix (It is.), and no human being deserves that.

I feel the same way about the N64 as I did as a child. The N64 is for kids while the PlayStation is for hardcore gamers. Seriously, you couldn’t fit the amazing story content on a cartridge that you could on a CD, that is why you have to come up with your own games like burgle my bananas instead of just playing the game.

Welp, that was fun at first, then they started playing the game. Seriously no one could pop in the game and make sure it isn't miserable shit before starting a series on it? That's like not looking up the price of a game before a QL times a 100. By the end of the first episode Abby is already done with playing the game, and Vinny doesn't sound far behind. Hopefully others still get a kick out of watching people pretend to be having a good time with a game they all hate, but after this first episode I do not want this kind of series right now.

@youeightit: totally agree. I appreciate the effort and loved steal my sunshine. But this is so convoluted that I found myself wishing they were just hanging out playing DK 64. That said, I’m gonna love this series no matter how they go about it

Leave it to Dan to want to pollute Antarctica, the one place least defiled by humanity.

I showed the intro segment to my wife, who is familiar with @danryckert antics, and she thought it was hilarious. She demanded that I get into the comments and suggest that the DK picture on the right of the Funky Shop be named Tiki Kong, to go along with Riki and Kiki.

I wonder how much research went into this feature. Donkey Kong 64 isn't nearly as bad as people say, but it's got some insanely questionable design choices that will make it frustrating for the players. This is going to be good.
