Spin the wheel!

Somehow this has to end with Dan getting speared through the Funky Shop.

The funky shop music turned into 2000 video game trailer music.

Overall, I'm very happy with the changes they made this time: The time-limited turns, getting the guide and the much larger wheel (100 slices now...I counted) are all big positives to the show that breath a little more life into it.

Minor gripes: I still wish they had removed those 150 bananas from the bank from last episode since, even with 1 out of 100 odds (Assuming there's only one slice that rewards the bank, which might not be accurate) of getting it, with just how often they're spinning the wheel (Especially with re-spins) they're still likely gonna land on it pretty quickly and get what basically amounts to a free end-the-series item.

Also, I'm just not a huge fan of the whole “leave the room” thing, since at the end of the day it just means less fun commentary/people to help figure out what to do next.

Haven't seen the whole thing yet, but was thinking of some names for the next series because I love Steal my Sunshine and this one so much.

I agree. Maybe replace leave the room with some turn end variant. Passing the controller to someone of the players' choosing?

Yup, this is my least favorite thing of this show. What function does it fill in the context of this show? Not being able to participate in the events such as spins, bets, using items, etc?
If so, remake it to be something along the lines of 'banished for x amount of time/turns', meaning they can't participate in those events until they're not banished anymore.

But it just seems like it's just about removing the person from the set, which is just bad.

The main reason I watch their content is to see their reactions and hear their commentary and banter. Leaving the room seems extremely counterproductive to the foundation of Giant Bomb itself.

By the end of this episode...

Dan looked like a moonshining drunk

Mike looked like a boy bander past his prime

Abby looked like the homeless bird lady during winter

and of course Vinny looked like a monkey

Wait, I'm 25 minutes into this... is Vinny really just gone for the rest of the episode? I thought "leave the room" would mean the person had to step out for a minute while banana-swapping shenanigans or something ensued behind their back. I can't see how they thought having someone straight-up leave the show would be a remotely fun/good idea. Hope that one gets axed going forward :/

When you disappeared I had to google you to find out where you went. Couldn't be more happy over the years since enjoying ALL of GB's content. Much better episode than last time even if they're still infatuated wtih the dumbass wheel. Would recommend against the rule change where the game guide is treated as a purchaseable that's hoarded away from the other players. Dan and Abbey are plainly terrible at paying attention the slightest bit of attention to the game they're playing and the less time spent watching them aimlessly wander around the better.

While I totally agree that the inclusion of "leave the room" on the wheel only hurts the series, I also kinda really wanna see an episode where 3, or even better, all 4 of them end up landing on it, just for the novelty of it.

Literally scrubbing through this going from wheel spin to wheel spin. Unbelievably good.

Please scrap the "Leave the room" penalty. At least make it so that person loses their turn or cannot play for the remainder of the episode.

I'm torn on the idea of the "leave the room" penalty. On the one hand, the best part of giant bomb is people playing off the game and each other, and if someone isn't there they can't do either. On the other hand, I think it would be hilarious if one episode ended up with them all having left, and the rest of the episode is just the game running the background for an hour.

I think “leave the room” would be better if it only applied to one pass-through of turns. In this episode, Vinny would have come back relatively quickly, but we’d still get the fun reaction. Worst case scenario, the person comes back in 45 minutes.

I fucking lost it at Abby going "We're feastin' cuz no one dies." Surprisingly good fake Dave Lang quote.

The new rules are nice, but a few more would be appreciated

-clusters of coins are worth only 1 spin

-no respins. those spins are just lost

-2x banana multiplier from the wheel replaced with +1 banana per golden banana won. this bonus accumulates, and anyone can get it. Expires at the end of the episode

-bananas spent on special items are returned to the stockpile

-leave the room replaced with leave the room until your next turn

it's so fucking funny that Vinny got to stay out of the room for the whole episode. to the victor go the spoils and in this case the spoils are not playing Donkey Kong 64. hope he was able to get some other work done with that valuable time

By this point I think this is sadly probably the worst GB East produced content to date - which is a real shame because obviously a lot of hard work and planning went into making it. On paper it all probably sounded pretty great but I don’t think they anticipated just how bad the videogame part would actually be. Sunshine - which I assume was the template for this - was difficult at times, sometimes buggy, but at the end of the day a fairly straight forward and competent platformer. I’ve watched four episodes so far and I’m still absolutely perplexed by what is even going on in the game. This is largely due to the fact that the gameplay is so bad that I always start doodling on a napkin or browsing other tabs with the audio running in the background. Like others I enjoy the wacky nonsense that happens on the periphery of it all but after such outstanding shows like Crime Crew, Sunshine, RE4, This is the Run..etc.. where both gameplay and banter were equally engaging, this just seems like a dud.

Goes without saying, but I’m saying it, my opinions are my own and all that.

Yeah, but goddamn is it entertaining to see Dan being tormented by a shitty game.
