Don't you dare slander Too Human, Dan. It might be a janky ass game but it was a fun janky ass game. It's not even close to the pantheon where Quite Man operates.

Boy, that Jeff apology was painful. The whole thing was fun enough until he pulled the “blame the other person for them being wrong” thing.

I'm not sure I agree that Blizzard has set themselves up for an extreme reaction every time Blizzcon turns out to be disappointing, because the Blizzcon audience is used to being disappointed. It seems like the rabid nature of the fans has been very exaggerated. More than 30000 people attended Blizzcon and the worst thing that happened was some rude questions during a Q&A.

Thank god Vinny mentioned how bad the Quickdraw system is. I thought it was just me but it seems everyone also doesn't understand it either. I've never beaten a quickdraw on the first try ever...

Maybe it's because I'm a dog, and therefor have special insight on the matter, and it's something I have to yap about due to it, but cat/dog/anything taurs have been around for a very long time.

In popular media like WoW you have elf-taurs, pixie-taurs, dragon-taurs and cat-taurs. You'll also find them, and many other fascinating creations, if you delve deeply into various mythologies.

And, not to forget, if you're a person with an interest in the anthro/furry aesthetics, it's not a huge stretch of the imagination to create and/or admire the concept of non-human centaurs.

One of the most unfortunate things about The Quiet Man is that Joe Kelly worked on the story. For those who don't know, Kelly is a comic book author whose work includes the 90s Deadpool series and the amazing Image miniseries I Kill Giants (which is probably one of my favorite miniseries/graphic novels of all time). What a bummer...

He might be playing it up for the show, but as a listener it's frustrating to hear Jeff talk over and dismiss Abby (especially last week).

Disappointed that you guys didn't talk about the Nintendo Direct. Curious about the crew's thoughts on the Piranha Plant and Incineroar.

And it's odd that Alex was surprised that FFXV was getting DLC 2 years later when earlier in the show there was a totally normal reaction to Overwatch getting DLC 2 years later.

@puchiko: I Agree. I still have no idea how the quickdraw stuff works. It makes zero sense to me. A bit annoying how much of an apologist Alex seems to be for the game. dan describes it perfectly. It's an amazingly put together game, it's just not fun all the time.

It seems like the rabid nature of the fans has been very exaggerated. More than 30000 people attended Blizzcon and the worst thing that happened was some rude questions during a Q&A.

I think the fan rudeness of people at the event is being somewhat blown out of proportion and maybe mixed up with the online reaction (which is an absolute train wreck on fire). One guy asked a question that you could see as being snarky and then the fans at the event booed when the answer to the question "Will this come to PC?" was "No". Outside of that the reaction at the show was mostly muted. It's online that people are being much more angry and inflammatory. Asking if the game would go to PC is a legit question and people where unhappy with the answer. It sucks to get booed but it's an extremely common reaction that crowds of people will do when something they dislike happens.

Having said that - I can tell you as someone who spends time on all the various Blizzard related game sub-reddits - anyone who was a community manager or a dev on the Diablo teams who frequented those sub-reddits knew that announcing a mobile game was going to be met with this kind of reaction. The problem is that person is probably so low down the pecking order that their opinion means nothing.

The journey sort of went like this

  1. The schedule for Blizzcon is announced weeks and weeks ago. Everyone noticed that a Diablo panel immediately followed the free opening ceremony. There's also a "gap" in the panel allocation on the main stage - the last time that happened was the year Overwatch was officially revealed. People generally take it to mean there's something new being announced.
  2. Blizzard release a video saying they're working on many Diablo projects and can't wait to show them off.
  3. The floor map is released. People again notice that there's gaps in the floor plan, gaps that based on previous years are big enough to fit new demo stations in, for new unannounced projects.
  4. At this stage people on the online communities are all pretty hype for a new Diablo project - with one exception. Everyone joked online saying they hope it's not just a mobile game, that a mobile game would be the worst and most disappointing outcome. It becomes a common enough joke on hype and speculation threads that nobody wants a mobile game. The order of what people generally would've been excited about is Diablo 1/2 Remastered, Diablo 4, a new Diablo 3 character, new improvements and updates to Diablo 3 and that's about it. Nobody wants a phone game.
  5. Blizzard put out a blog post to say (without ever mentioning the worlds "Diablo" and "Four") that Diablo 4 won't be shown and that maybe people should cool their jets on what to expect. At this point the mood online has changed to two things. Speculation that Blizzard are lying and will show Diablo 4 anyway as a big hurrah or the thing that people don't want is happening and there's a phone game coming.

If Blizzard are actually taken aback by the reaction to announcing a mobile game then they either a) don't pay any attention to the vast online communities at all or b) ignore the people who are paying attention.

@maxxcanti: - FFXV is a single player game that came out in 2016. Overwatch is a multiplayer only game as a service title. They're two completely different types of games. I'd wager there's way, way more people still playing Overwatch than people who are still regularly booting up or even thinking about FFXV these days.

If you guys don't all get together and play Quiet Man with the sound it'll be the biggest travesty in GB history. I need GB East complete and Jeff B all together playing it again and just going nuts over the audio version. I'll donate $20 more to charity just to see that.

Only heard about the whole Diablo thing, so I decided to watch the moment when it was announced and hoooo boy. I got second hand anxiety just watching it.

When the problem needing an apology stems from talking over Abby, talking over her during the apology is probably indicative of not knowing what the problem was in the first place.

I was afraid Tabata was going to be on clean-up duty for Squenix for the foreseeable future, so I'm glad he's getting a chance to do his own thing/actually sleep. It does bring in the question of who they have in mind for XVI (assuming it's happening), whether it be Yoshida or Ito or they just throw it back to Toriyama and let him make another Lightning triology.

The existence of the DC Comics character "Frakenstein" means you can all stop making "Frankenstein's monster" corrections.
