It appears to be quite popular. I'll be interested to see how he keeps the format fresh episode to episode, especially with the episodes being so long. I was happy to see him switch gears with the wine moms bit. He's obviously super talented, but balancing out new content between his own channel and his GB features sounds like a nightmare. Either way, I'm here for it.

Oh, I think I finally know what brain rot is.

I fell asleep during this livestream and it was running in the background. I had the craziest like fever dream nonsense happening while I was asleep. I maybe wouldn't recommend napping while this is playing in the background.

Feels like the comments are like 80/10/10 love it/hate it/wtf is this but that's just for people commenting. Personally I still do not understand this and the degree of support and familiarity its getting from comments and staff makes me feel like I'm being messed with. However, seeing other people compare it to Space Ghost (which also confuses me) is calming.

I am firmly in the camp that this is amazing content. I think anyone who has ever run a stream can instantly appreciate how difficult this must be to produce live and on the fly while also being the center of attention. Windbag must have practiced for hours and hours to be this good.

This is clearly not for me. I just don't get how this fits with the brand of GiantBomb. I appear to be in the minority opinion however.

I hope you guys hire this guy on permanently. An absolute legend. Get him on even more streams.

So far he's not having to balance the content between the channels, just for the next month his Thursday episodes are on Giant Bomb instead of his own channel. The "narrative continuity" for last night's GB episode was a continuation of the stuff on his channel from earlier in the week.

You may be surprised to hear this but no I do not desire more forking. But, thank you for the offer anyway.

Sometimes Giant Bomb feels like you woke up halfway through a movie you were watching with friends but you fell asleep after 45 minutes. Nobody tells you that they switched movies while you were asleep, though, so you sit there sort of awkwardly wondering if you really missed something or if you’re stupid.

This content is 1,000% not for me but I don’t hate it; it just feels like the most non-sequitor possible and I have no idea where it came from.

Is this a loop?

@rlatham: I feel like they (Bakalar, Grubb and Jan specifically) have made it a point on several streams to say they wanted to elevate creators that they think were doing cool things to help give them some exposure. Whether that ends up being long term, short term or total one offs that don't catch on with the community is to be seen, but as far as the "brand" goes Giant Bomb was always about more than just video games when it was founded. The Sausalito crew would constantly deviate into movies, food, energy drinks, music let alone some random streams of just absolute nonsense playing around with the tricaster in a similar vain to Windbag (minus the need for narrative continuity).

I feel like the "random" stuff faded away a bit when the site moved to CBS so for us old folks that have been here since the late Gamespot, Arrow Pointing Down and Whiskey Media days this may not seem as weird to be on the site, but that may be me projecting a bit.

So, is it video games brand? No, but that's ok. Giant Bomb was created to be about video games and whatever else they felt like doing. This is the same, but with the new crew inviting people they think are doing something cool to be a part of it for a bit. It doesn't impact what the core staff are doing so I am all for it myself.

This is literally the same energy as the weird streams GB would do late night and when they'd fuck around around with the Tricaster. I'm here for it.

This is less weird than some of the old late night streams that happened with Ryan and Jeff G back in the day. Some of the Giantbomb "classic" fans are really telling on themselves! Come on guys, it's friday night and nothing bad can happen here.

He sings an entire song to a generic corporate royalty free track that I use all the time for my job. I don't know if I should feel honored or attacked. Either way I'll never look at Storyblocks the same way again.

Don't forget 8-4 Play, which has been on GB for over a decade now as well. GB hosting non-GB staff content isn't exactly a new thing.

Shout out to @TheGhostMaidens on Twitch for being excellent double dates for Windbag and Sidehost. They did a whole stream as the Wine Moms in addition to guesting on this episode. I was shocked at how much game Sidehost has.

@mrplayersix: I think they're trying new things, trying to generate new revenue, attract new users and be entertaining to the most new customers - especially without a site without a valuable premium subscription anymore - don't forget they were just acquired.

Not sure what it is, but it's different. if it's better or worse is for you to decide. I'm fairly certain it's a 100% cold hearted business decision though.

@junpei: Agreed 99.9% - As an older guy who was always watching, I agree.

This isn't for me, but I'm not gonna yuck somebody's yum so to speak - let them have fun, and it does feel like it's keeping the spirit of GB alive in a certain way.
