man, i know that Chewbacca line is a joke, but RIP Peter Mayhew

SmileBomb •

This Beastcast opens up with Chewbacca turd humor and the original actor for the character dies the same day of recording. What timing.

antihero •

@smilebomb: @shrinerr: Yeah, unfortunate timing indeed. I don’t normally check the podcast comments but did in this case to see what people say about the joke.

Holy crap Jeff has a lot of friends!

Playing Chewbacca by Supernova in tribute. RIP.

I am so over the MK talk.

Yip, over 2 hours in the last 2 Bomcasts and I'm guessing more her. I may just skip past.

It's a game where you punch people. Sometimes kick.

Yes, Vinny, Andrew Bowen (former star of 'MadTV' and, of course, fmv-masterpiece 'Fox Hunt') does indeed do a great job at voicing Johnny Cage(s).

Safe search on Vinny...safe search on....

Loving all the MK talk, so much crazy lore there.

for people who have issues with earbuds falling out of your ears:

comply foam tips are your friend. they stick like glue, and allow you to hear more at lower volumes (which is better for your ears).

also- at the risk of sounding like an old man- no amount of online trash talk is 'acceptable.' unless you're on my friend list, you're getting muted. but then again, i don't really play online competitive games.

Haha Vinny's story about his kids are always great.

Irony personified.

Redic •

Ugh now we got all the Cookie Run defenders in the comments

faridmon •

Fucking hell, I am very certain that MK talk is all made up and none of it happens in the game BECAUSE IT SOUNDS BUNCH OF NONSENSE.

I agree with Abbey to a point, the art style just makes everyone so macho and, hence, unappealing.

WTFast has been around since the early World of Warcraft days in one itteration or another and has never seriously taken off.

Because it's essentially the "gamer" equivalent of get a bigger dick pills scam, that stays afloat because there is a sucker born every minute.

PS: A lot of the questions Vinny has about what happened to missing characters is answered either in the Krypt or through the VS. interactions between characters at match start.

Sharbok •

It's crazy that the beastcast still try to defend Randy Pitchford after he has shown over and over he is a shitty person.

slaughts •

Maannnn I wish there was video so I could see what Vinny saw and the face reactions of everyone when he typed in "BigDickDaddyDom"

garwalk •

More MK Lorecasts please!

Read more stories, Dan. What the fuck.

Tried WTFast several years ago when I saw my ping tank from 60 to 180 in League. Ran trace routes and I could see where it was hitting a bad node, so figured why the hell not. It did work, my ping returned to normal, but I suspect it won't make a difference for those who don't have the sort of obvious packet-path issue I did.

I can't imagine the "tech" behind this is "owned" by anyone though, just seemed like a series of proxies to me.

I'm guessing the news about Peter Mahew didn't break when they were recording this week's Beastcast.

Internet still sucks out here in rural Kentucky. Our best option is a 4G LTE router that gets between 1 and 2 bars, and we're somewhat lucky. I would love to be able to pay $60 for 100 down.

Vinny's Max story and the Mario Party reveal was amazing!

I can't believe no one else got the Obama/Sonic thing

the corrections trumpet's subsequent cancellation and holding that note fucking destroyed me, the attention to completely arbitrary and dumb details is just one of the things I love about this place. thanks, love y'all!

Abby is so right in that MK has the most boring character designs ever.

I was considering getting Borderlands 3, but at this point I just don't know. I'm sure there are probably a lot of good people at Gearbox working very hard, including I guess Johnny V now, but man do I not want to give any money to Randy Pitchford.

I really liked the part where they casually skimmed over guidelines meant to address online racial hate, as though this isn't like a real problem and maybe taking a light-hearted approach to the discussion is just normalizing it further.

Nothing like a room full of people of one colour, laughing about this stuff that will rarely impact them (Abby's totally valid, gender-based negative experiences aside).

Grondoth •

“Do you have any theories at least?”

“There is one, but it's very thin.”

“Try me,” Obama thinly smiled. Morgan had the feeling that the president's eyes were boring through his skull. He had the complete attention of one of the most powerful people on the planet now, and it made Nathan's hands sweat.

“We were testing several artifacts that were seconded to us by the U.S. Air Force. We were told that their presence at CERN was to be considered classified, along with their origin.”

Obama chuckled. “You mean the Chaos Emeralds?”

@ohsnapkins: Well it's not like they can really give any first-person experience and being hurt by being called the n-word. A person can really only speak to their own personal experiences. It's hard to really fault them for that.

Datajack •

@curryspiced: Speaking of Johnny V, that recent twitter post with Boogie was quite the disappointment.

Milkman •

Alex, I understood your Obama fan fiction joke. Just want you to know.

If I could fix any movie I'd get the Stairway to Heaven license for Wayne's World so the guitar store scene makes sense.

Tennmuerti •

@escapee: The thing is because it's using proxies, the game is reporting the ping to the proxy not to your pc, making it look smaller, since it's not the real ping.

Ohsnapkins •

@blackichigo: No, it's really not. I'm not part of the LGBT+ community, but I deal very carefully in any discussion around issues related to hate against that group. Same thing with other races i'm not a part of, or sexual orientations, or whatever else it may be.

Saying "well they never experienced it so...." is basically arguing that human empathy isn't a thing, and that unless you've personally experienced it, it's impossible to be measured in your discussion of it. That's ridiculous.

Moloxus •

"Mechsquisite Corp." BattleTech play-through needs to happen...

escapee •

@tennmuerti: There was a definite difference in-game though, from unplayable to fine.

@ohsnapkins: First I'm a black person so I have complete authority on whether or not people should feel okay with bringing up subjects like this /sarcasm.

But what did you want them to say or do? Do we really need a 20 minute after school special on why racism and the n-word is bad. I feel like the people that need to hear that message probably aren't listening to this podcast.

Clearly everyone in that room knows racism is wrong and nearly everyone felt uncomfortable even bringing it up. So I understand them completely, trying to lighten the mood by making fun of the "solutions" brought up.

Good lord, people really hear whatever they wanna hear with this show sometimes.

I can assure you that everyone on the Beastcast thinks that racism is bad. You can breathe easy.
