Jeff's name really should appear under cast. A honourable mention.

Edit. On second thought. He might not deserve it. The tissues will do.

3 minutes in and I've lost it.

And yes, Jeff B needs a tag. At least make it Cnet or something.

The tissue joke continued for German speaking people, when Jeff mentioned he liked the ones with the Vicks on them. Their products are called Vick in German speaking countries, because otherwise it sounds to much like a slang term for masturbation?

Slight dorky correction! Schwarzenegger is NOT playing a Terminator in Dark Fate, but rather the man that was the design inspiration for the T-800. The aging thing was a part of Genisys, which is not canon in Dark Fate (everything after 2 is ignored).

Listening to a bombcast before a beastcast is like night and day. Everything is so different from the humor to the tone.

@vinny So the pickups in Team Sonic Racing are Wisps, which were introduced in Colors, and later appeared in Generations and Forces. They acted like one-time powerups in past games (e.g. orange lets you blast up as a rocket, blue generates cubes you can walk on), and in TSR they’re analogous to pickups you see in other kart racers (e.g. orange is a rocket, blue drops cubes like mines). Admittedly, if you’re not familiar with Wisps it’s very hard to tell which one does what.

Also, not every week you quickly know of the context behind the thumbnail :x

I'm with Abby on team handkerchief, Glad to hear someone else there. Just rotate them out and wash them regularly, they're absolutely fine (and they're better on your nose than most tissues, and better for the environment too). I only use tissues if I have a heavy cold.

Sherbet is the correct spelling (italian: sorbetto, french: sorbet), sherbert is the mispelling that has been accepted as alternate spelling (read: we've given up teaching you fools).

I doubt he hates him. Alex is probably just incredulous at how Martin is in fact producing like 5 different TV shows and now consulting on a game, while fans of his books have been waiting for the next installment since 2011. He has delayed the release of the book several times and apologized to the fanbase.. and yet he continuous to do a whole bunch of stuff on the side.

Now of course I don't know what his writing process is like. Maybe producing 5 TV shows and consulting on a game with an overseas developer doesn't cut into his writing time. That said, when you're a fan eagerly awaiting the continuation of the story for about 8 years and you see the author do all this other stuff it's just not a great look.

@humanity: As someone who writes in a manner much like I think I see in Martins work, the explanation as best I can provide it is thus.

I love the act of creating and coming up with stories. Working my way from the start to finish is engaging and fun and where all my creative energy draws joy and drive from. Where I draw little fun and interest is in the editing and finalizing of something. The idea of sitting down to write 4k+ pages of a story where I already know all the details and plot-points is utterly abhorrent. I don't want to write about something I already spent time creating and developing, I wanna create new stuff!

What you get then is for someone like me, working on an existing story is often the hundred and one new ideas, tweaks, twists, turns, upheavals and restarts that I come up with post finishing the basic concept. Not because I hate what I wrote before, but because its the past, its done. Since I only ever write for my own self enjoyment, I find no drive or reason too go back and do the hard and important work of making something I've written flow well, make sense. Stick in fore-shadowing and so on.

What I know I would need if I were to ever try writing for money/other people besides myself, is a strict editor with a lot of authority over me. Or a co-writer whom will take over once I have creatively engaged to create the outline/big sweeping parts of a story, with all the little details I don't wanna be bothered with..or both.

I see neither of those things happening with Martin if he is, indeed, the kind of creative mind as myself. Which means he will write for however long he cares too, the rest of us be damned. Its part of why I gave up waiting on the books a decade ago.

Holy shit, I nearly spit my coffee out when I heard Jeff say he's been jamming on Graveyard! One of my favorite bands of all time, active or otherwise - sound like they took a time travellin' van that warped to the present straight from the 70s. Bluesy, groovy, and doomy rock - Hendrix, Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Skynyrd, and Floyd are all influences - and the way they brew it all together is incredible and unique. If you've any interest, start with their 2nd album Hisingen Blues and their self-titled. Just saw them live a couple months back touring the states with Uncle Acid & the Deadbeats (another fantastic band), easily the best live show I've ever seen.

@alex, @danryckert - Uncomfortably Numb is a good song to check out, clearly referencing Pink Floyd with the title, but sounds more like Lynyrd Skynyrd the entire back half. If Dan can't jam on this one, I don't know what to say! Also check out 'The Siren' and 'No Good, Mr Holden' off the same album.

@jeff - if you're digging Graveyard, check out the band Witchcraft and their self-titled from 2004. Apparently members of both Witchcraft and Graveyard started out in the same local Swedish band before branching out. And while I'm here, let me also plug a band called Dead Meadow - my other favorite active band making fantastic heavy, psychedelic rock music. Anyway, never thought I'd hear Graveyard get shouted out on my favorite podcast - that totally made my day, cheers! :)

God I don't understand this "the bruins are the bad guy" narrative with alex talking about them winning too much? They won back in 2011 and that's it. I get that Marchand can be an asshole but ffs the punch in the back of the head thing happened about fifty other times in that series and was mostly by the other team. I think people are just sick of any Boston team winning at this point and I understand why. 18+ years of insane winning that no one could have ever predicted will do that and i'm enjoying it while it lasts.

@bladededge: Yah I dunno what his deal is because his earlier books had regular intervals which started getting longer until now, when it seems like they may or may not ever get finished. For the fans sake (I never actually read the books myself) I hope he does get to finish them. I'm a huge Frank Herbert fan and loved the Dune novels (which ironically are like Game of Thrones in space) so it was always a big bummer for me that he died before finishing the series.

I finished the book The Secret Lives of Color only to discover Mahardy recommending it on his Twitter shortly thereafter. Mike Mahardy, the tastemaker of our times.

Sherbet generally has dairy and sorbet generally doesn't. I know the word for the former is derived from the word for the latter, but the former, at least in the U.S., is generally experienced via plastic tubs and lots of artificial food coloring and heartily deserves the second "r" in its pronunciation. (I'm not saying it's bad, but it definitely is a two-r dessert.)

When Arnold is speaking and it lists his name and his character name, it says T-800. Could be a bait-and-switch, but the end of that featurette shows someone punching a Terminator underwater and it looks like it is Arnold punching it, so who knows.

I'm guessing this is the Marchand gif Vinny saw. Sedin (and his teammates) doing absolutely nothing while this is going on was the best part.

Don't know where Jeff got "they've won a bunch" since this is their first Finals appearance since 2013 (where they lost to Chicago in 6).

Is the handheld with the crank going to be the new LABO for games media, where the people in games media act like it is going to be super cool and neat and awesome and then they try it and go "Oh..." and essentially never talk about it again?

Yeah I think it's just the whole Boston keeps winning championships thing that he confused. Bruins and Celtics only have one each but the red sox have 4 and patriots have 6 (with NINE appearances) since 2001.
