Why's everyone marking no spoilers for Last of Us? Are there outlets actually spoiling things before the game's out?

@csl316: I mean, there've been plenty of people spoiling stuff from the leaks that came out. I don't know of any outlets that have disobeyed the (onerous) embargo rules but I guess most outlets want to make sure people know they won't be talking about the leaked stuff.

I found FF7's writing super corny during the first section, but it eventually found its footing. I ended up really enjoying a lot of the dialogue as the game went on. That said, the early going felt very rough, and those first sidequests in particular have some Deadly Premonition levels of stilted, uncanny weirdness.

It honestly feels like that first section of the game had different writers or translators or something, which would make sense considering it was shown like 4-5 years ago, with the same dialogue, well before Square took it away from CyberConnect and committed to developing the remake in-house.

I just started watching What We Do In The Shadows(Prior fan of the movie), watched the ep introducing Evie from season one before the EA Play. EA kinda feels like an Evie rn.

(Also I second that people should discover Detroiters, people slept on that show and it hurts)

Y'all should play Barn Finders! It reminds me a bit of House Finder crossed with Recettear. It's basically American Pickers: The Game

I'm so excited by Abby not clipping anymore. It really helps with the comedic timing, which Abby has, so it's so great to have fixed.

Good to hear that Hard Markinson's back in business.

Guitar Hero: Metallica would be nice to see.

Abby's updated streaming setup is pretty impressive. Looks like she's running a business out of that office.

Hey folks...if you're interested in Tabletop Simulator for PC that Vinny was talking about, it's currently half off through June 25th on Humble Bundle right now for a steam key at only $9.99 (us):

https://www.humblebundle.com/store/tabletop-simulator

Also, I would love to see Vinny try a Tabletop Simulator stream in Oculus or Vive VR.

This is the first I've heard of that Hardspace: Shipbreaker game. This was notable to me because I'm a Homeworld fan and where I remember "Shipbreaker" from, at least in game terms, is "Hardware: Shipbreakers"the game developed by some ex-Relic people that eventually went onto become "Homeworld: Shipbreakers" and then finally "Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak" when Gearbox (who had acquired the Homeworld rights from THQ) decided the publish the game. Well, as it turns out, Hardspace: Shipbreaker is from that same team/developer! It's unclear whether it's officially set in the Homeworld universe (which probably wouldn't be all that meaningful since it's not a story driven game anyway), but there are some definite style similarities with the ship designs.

@corianderpyle: If you try and under bid someone too much will they chase you off the property? The few times I've watched that show I felt like at any moment the property owner is about to tell the American Picker guys to leave.

This has been bugging me for the last few weeks, that poster in Bakalar's room has been so familiar and I think I worked out what it is. @jeffbakalar is that a TCGS poster?

Jeff does deserve getting burned sometimes but riffing on each other would have been fun if two of the participants didn't have Vinny as their boss making him more or less immune to trash talking.

Shipbreaker sounds interesting and I'm totally with Vinny on being a fan of the grimy parts of sci-fi. Being a minion in Star Wars Galaxies totally removed from lightsabers and faux knighthood was surprisingly engaging. I just think I'd rather build ships then break them down.

Unless you're going on a total internet blackout before playing the game (advisable if you're worried about spoilers), the review embargo probably didn't do much in the long run because the people who mainlined it overnight after the midnight launch flooded Twitter with spoilers, and streamers uploaded clips of Major Moments immediately (getting millions of views, likely to the consternation of some members in the trad. games media)

Hell yeah @vinny, there's some real charm in the "mass produced" gundams. I think the cream of the crop are the ones that are "mass produced" but "special" in their own ways... like being part of a small task force of side characters. I recommend kits like the master grade Jesta or ReZEL Type-C if you want to get some recent-ish kits.

@alex Now that I finished the game and can listen to all the content regarding Last of Us 2. Regarding the embargo specificity... the problem with the current internet is that not not as simple as avoiding Last of Us coverage. All forms of social media are now recommending content to consume, and too many creators use click bait titles that will purposefully put in shocking spoiler information in titles of their posts.

People who loved Last of Us 1 will get Last of Us 2 content promoted to them if they watched any YouTube video of the first game. Maybe for just playing an Uncharted game or any Playstation game, or any game, or anything remotely related to pop culture, or for not reason at all.

I had to avoid not just specific creators, but all forms for any kind of online content at all if possible on the final weeks leading up to release, and when I did browse I had to look at article titles with basically my periphery vision to see if it was at all related to try to skip it.

And I didn't totally succeed. The day of launch, I saw one title that gave a general description of the game that described a type of motivation that tipped me off to a major story point that happened in the game.

The internet is so targeted these days, that it's not as simple as not clicking on something anymore.
