Good timing on these! I had just started getting in to St. Vincent after learning she was a producer on Sleater-Kinney's latest album. Hard to believe that St. Vincent managed to be involved with the two single most important things of the last couple of years.

Wow Fortnite has changed so much, been loving this series, really hoping that there is a St. Vincent show up at some point :-D

How many human players do you think are in their lobbies? I get the value of bots and taking it easy on new players, but it doesn't feel the same without 100 actual players.

This is a great series during the lockdown, I miss the charity streams but this is a good replacement for having guests. Plus I’m sure it’s easier to coordinate with just one other person and not have to be live.

@villainfb43: the number of bots is pretty significant early on (from when you create your account), but if you continue to play and win, they become less frequent. There are probably some other factors at play (like if you decide to build/crank 90s), because my son plays on his Switch and wins quite often, but doesn't play against the caliber of opponents I play against on PC (despite the cross-platform matchmaking). My daughter, who also plays on PC, plays against tons of bots still, and she can barely manage her inventory.

It's pretty brilliant on Epic's part though, as it behaves more like a video now, where it starts off easier, and gets progressively harder.

@langdonx: I’m curious about it because PUBG just added bots but they made it so even players with hundreds or thousands of hours played have to go through the heavy bot experience. Kinda ruined the game for me. It makes a lot of sense for a game like fortnite and Epic deserves way more trust in getting the balance right. Bluehole does everything wrong.

Also I don’t understand why Fortnite has building still. It’s weird and a turnoff for most new players. It’s the only thing keeping people like me from enjoying it. Epic has a history of totally nuking things they’ve added to Fortnite (sometimes literally), so why not try removing the building and see how people like it? IMO it just doesn’t fit the game or the experience, but clearly I’m not an expert in the game.

these are great! i hope you are able to get a mcelroy on a future episode. they should be able to give you good tips about manifesting your weird pop culture dreams (a la the mcelroy brothers will be in trolls world tour)

@development: Probably because it has become a very unique mechanic for high level play that differentiates it from other shooters where you just basically run around and shoot each other. I think it's awkward looking as well but it does set it apart.

Also the more I watch these the more I'm tempted to try playing. Game just seems fun, and fleshed out. The lcoations seem a lot more bespoke and detailed than most other Battle royale games that offer drab, identical buildings. Even Apex isn't all that great about this. Also the fun little things like Telephone booths or teleporting Port-a-pottys.. fun little stuff. It gives the player something to do between engagements and makes it so that it doesn't feel like a complete waste of time if you run around for 15 minutes and suddenly get killed in seconds the moment you meet other players.

Having recently dipped back into Apex to see what has changed this is still my primary issue with these type of games. I had a hot 3-4 match streak where we landed, ran around and then got gunned down instantly, making the entire match feel like a waste of time.

Building is literally Fortnite's distinguishing factor and has been since day 1.

As for these streams... I'm glad that people are somehow entertained with entry-level Fortnite streams, but I don't get it.

I watched a Fortnight comp live once and it was insane. The building is so crazy at high levels, turns into like a vertical pacman at the end game. Gained a lot of respect for the game after that.

Who was the cat that moseyed in on Abby's feed at about the 19 minute mark? That definitely doesn't look like Tater Tot!

Please don't let this be the start of GB doing the YouTube thumbnail thing of "thinking face" or "shocked face" or "confused face" and half a dozen words with question marks/exclamation points. Abby, you are amazing and these videos are great, please don't go full YouTube clickbait.

Eagerly awaiting episode 5, and this series has gotten me to stick my toe back into fortnite. I really do appreciate all the different goals and quests getting me xp.
