I'm of the same mind as you. I've played quite a few hours of this game so far and am genuinely really enjoying it (glad Dan seems to be into it as well). The combat is super duper fun and there's more depth to it (especially as you get more perks/upgrades) than you might think. Was also pleasantly surprised at how many different enemy types they introduce as you go along as well, it gets hectic once they start mixing and matching them in combat encounters.

I'm being a bit snarky but I really do feel like the last generation went a little overboard with open worlds. Eventually games started getting so long and full of filler that I rarely replay them, and games that had no business being open world started getting shoved into one. I blame Skyrim, since it set expectations so high for game length that shorter games started getting pushed aside because they didn't have that same "value."

Luckily, I've been able to find well made games in the 10-15 hour range lately, stuff like Psychonauts 2 or Kena or even Bayonetta 3. And Game Pass allows focused 5 hour games to get an audience, which is great so I've been feasting lately. Looking forward to trying Evil West but sounds like God of War might take up my whole December. But interestingly, EW is probably the game I'll want to replay a few times.

Finished this over the weekend. The gameplay got a bit tiresome towards the end, but still remained enjoyable for most of the 10 hours it took me to finish it, even if it really is just combat arena after arena, with a few boring puzzles thrown into the mix.

The story and characters almost feel like a parody for how close they are to also having being pulled from a game from around 2008-2010. Luckily the voice acting is at least tolerable, so the game doesn’t suffer from someone shrieking at you with a grating voice (the scientist guy could’ve almost ticked that box).

Wait, is this why Shadow Warrior 3 was rather disappointing? It did seem like a game made by a skeleton crew, with great yet very underdeveloped ideas poking through here and there.

I get it's mostly intended as a joke, but as someone that has pretty intense arachnophobia myself, let's not say an accessibility option is for "baby gamers".

Grounded had a similar option that removed details off spiders like legs and eyes and stuff at varying levels, and was pretty largely praised for it. So yeah, let's try not to diminish this, please?

The two most unearned confidence white dudes mocking accessibility options in 2022 is so disappointing but not at all surprising. Just another example of how far behind similar sites current GB is. Everyone else goes out of their way to learn and grow and these dudes devolve
