Episode Notes:

This podcast is an audio supplement, meant to be played simultaneously with the film Battle Royale. We are watching the theatrical cut of the film via the US Blu-ray release. Streaming and rental options can be found here.

Our commentary begins at the 43 second mark. It's the title screen right after the parental advisory warning that plays at the top.

Almost didn't listen to this because of all the comments saying they ignored the film... but that's not true at all. They are reacting to pretty much every scene in the movie. Don't pass it up.

By the way, the netflix version has extra scenes that throw it out of sync, but it was easy enough to pause the commentary to sync up throughout the film.

Hard to find the specific version to watch. I'm living in Japan and all the version seems wrong. From what I listened, the US version cut many scenes from the original.

Just used the version of the film currently on Netflix. There are some differences between the one the crew watches (mostly the basketball scenes) but it shouldnt be too difficult to resync. Very good movie BTW.

The movie was ok and the podcast definitely made it better. I was watching it on Netflix and had to resync a few times. I have to say this movie could have cut out maybe 50% of its content and turned out way better. The dream sequences and flashbacks went on way too long after they made their point.

Finally able to listen to the commentary thanks to it being on Netflix. But, I also had a lot of resyncing to do throughout the movie. If you are watching it on netflix now, it is the directors cut that is streaming. So, not sure if I had to resync a bunch due to streaming or due to directors cut version.

Also, Abby is super funny in this commentary!

@section09: honestly I am very surprised no one mentioned MXC throughout this! Lots of easy "Don't get eliminated!" jokes there. lol

Just watching this now from Netflix. When people say that have to resync a bunch, if you pause during flashback basketball scenes and a little girl flashback scene, those are the ones that I noticed weren't part of the commentary.

The message to this movie is accountability/consequences.
