Con Air is one of my favourite films.

I, too, have severe emotional issues.

Is this the theatrical cut? There's also a longer version that was only on DVD and isn't available to stream anywhere.

Con-Air is the best. I love this so much. Might be my most watched movie of all time.

Con Air is least of the essential Nic Cage Trio that includes The Rock and Face/Off. To claim that Con Air is better than either of the other two is offensive.

Con Air is a great movie. There are so many crazy characters!

So how are you supposed to do this? Let's say I have the dvd/bluray and I'm on ps4. How do I pipe in the audio from this and mix it with the tv audio?

There's a lot of talk in this movie about how bad the editing is in this movie and it is but it all comes down to the director and the studio on big movies like this, not just the editor(s).

Three people edited Con Air including Chris Lebenzon who has been nominated twice for Oscars for Best Editing for Top Gun and Crimson Tide and has edited a lot of action movies.

You can have a great editor come on board but if you have a director that shoots scenes in certain ways and wants them edited in a certain way, that usually results in bad editing. You need a good director and a good editor for good editing because tight direction and editing go hand in hand.

@stanek1: I was making fun of the idea of complaining about stereotypes in old movies. My point was that you shouldn't take things too seriously when it comes to media that is firmly placed in the time it was created. Pointing it out now isn't going to retroactively change what it is so why not just enjoy the movie for what it was and ignore the stupid bits or just skip it all together.

But I clearly did a poor job in conveying that in my snarky post, though I thought it was kinda funny.

I mean.. Monica Potter's had a fairly successful TV career, with Parenthood and the like.

Having five people on these is too many. At any given time three different people are talking and it is almost impossible to listen to.

Glad to see so many other people here appreciate Con Air.

@robpigott: Yeah, as I say a few times during the recording, this is all Simon West. That's especially apparent when you watch his follow-up movies, which are largely travesties.

Great, my least favorite Nic Cage movie! I would never watch this again if it weren't for film and 40s so here we go I guess.

I forgot about the transphobia in this movie.

@alex: If it's not too much trouble in the future, would it be possible to include a total runtime for the movie in the description? It would really help to determine whether or not the version we are getting is the same as yours. Would hate to buy a dvd or bluray and find out it doesn't sync correctly. Thanks!

Ok so I'm gonna watch this movie cuz you guys recorded a commentary track for it...but I'm gonna cleanse my Nic Cage palette with Matchstick Men afterwards.

Waaaait... Does this mean there will be no The Rock commentary? Because I don't think I could handle that disappointment.

Bad movie is bad

Man I'm loving these film and 40s

I try to keep an open mind, but how anyone can think Face/off is a genuinely good movie is beyond me.

It's pretty impressive that Malkovich is great even in this bad movie.

The staff of Con Air put a lot of effort into researching what diabetes is.

I haven't seen it in forever but I'm pretty sure you could actually kill someone if you tried to help someone with diabetes by doing what they do in Con Air.

It's hilarious the way Alex felt he had to spoil part of the film to rescue the sensibilities of the audience. Although, given the over the top pantomime protestations every time the baddies did or said anything bad ("Oh man, this rapist sucks and upsets me" - I should hope so. That's kind of the point. - "Dear oh dear, the racist words of this murderous criminal are very upsetting") maybe he judged the room correctly.

Not sure about all this insistence that it's a dreadful film that can only be enjoyed ironically or knowingly either. It's cheesy and often badly acted and it's also one of the great action movie of its era.

Watching Steve Buscemi in this movie really made me want to go watch Airheads. And I don't know why.....

Is Poe Dameron named after Cameron Poe? ?

I genuinely don't know how to rank this and Face/Off. This is bad and misses the mark in _so_ many ways, but I feel like Face/Off was bad _in premise_ (e.g. the direction of Cage/Travolta) which I find much more off-putting than just not coming together. It seems like Con Air was just a dumb/generic action movie but it knew that , whereas Face/Off was trying to be something more or was more deliberate in the ways it was bad. As a result, Con Air is probably the worse movie, but I found it to be more watchable.

Part of me really, really hopes that they enjoy Face/Off, The Rock, etc in the same way I enjoy the Fast and the Furious movies or other people enjoy Transformers movies. They are fun but they are not genuinely good movies and The Rock is neither.

Screw the haters, this is still one of the best drinking movies out there.

Edit. Also i watched this on a european blu ray, and it was totally fine. Just in case if anyone is wondering.

It's all very well rubbing Dan's face in the fact that he won't be here for The Rock but how about thinking of your audience and saving the movie for when he can be there?
