Film & 40s: Film & 40s: Fast Five

I just rewatched Furious Seven and maaaaaaan The Rock has some epic scenes/lines in that.

@alex They filmed some of the movie in Georgia - I think the thing at the end was for that because Georgia gives film tax credits. Much of the Marvel Studios films are shot there because of it.

I actually think I like the first one the most so far. It has the clearest vision of what it is. 5 is not even a fast and furious movie. Also Han is the coolest, eating his chips, not giving a shit.

Well, it was nice thinking Tokyo Drift was the best one, but I just finished this one and I'd definitely put it on top... We had a good run, Tokyo Drift. Looking forward to the next two, and I think I'm going to be genuinely bummed when we finally catch up to Han's death, not that that's necessarily a spoiler.

Don't know if this is helpful but using iMovie I was able to sync up the start of the movie (before the universal logo) to about 138.7 seconds or 2 minutes 18.7 seconds in. I am using the extended US Bluray release of the movie. I couldn't figure out how to get any more granular than that in iMovie and I also haven't checked for de-sync issues later.

Man i wish vinny would stop turning up the volume on their end, it usually ends up making it more desync in the process when im muting and unmuting.

Extended Version was a nightmare to get in the UK for some reason, we don't have the streaming services you guys have. Was worth it in the end though, forgot how great that movie was. Solid Friday night once again thanks guys.

Ugh, the extended cuts aren't worth it. I had been streaming all of the other movies legally, and this one I had to pirate because no service has this 1min longer extended cut

All I could think of every time Vinny talked about how X character was a ghost was those film theory videos on YouTube.

One huge disappointment in this podcast. The description on the podcast says they reunite the whole Beast family for this episode but Jeff Bakalar is nowhere to be found and before you say he works at Cnet not GBEast may I remind you that Brian is now family to Dom so these things can happen and I for one think of Jeff B as family. Other than that I loved it!

@ilikepopcans: the audio going up helps so much. Becuase I usually accidentally pause one at some point. They only didn't help in Tokyo drift becuase every time the volume was up it was just music. But dialogue makes it so easy to sync back up.

ugh, just watch and be in the moment , stop telling us how awesome the series gets.

@eloj: Thanks for letting us know! I have the theatrical version and was wondering if I would have to get the extended!

Man, I fucked up.

I went and got a rental from Amazon based on one of the recommendations in the footnotes, started the audio and realized it's constantly out of sync because it's a different version from what they're watching. I sync it up again and five minutes later, they're watching scenes I don't have because they're commenting on stuff that doesn't make sense to what I'm watching.

I don't even know if I could rent the extended edition, but it's too late now. :(

Lesson learned.

For the future, get the Extended versions. I believe Alex said on Twitter that that's how they're gonna do the rest.

I had a feeling this would be the one where Vinny got fully on board. Glad that turned out to be the case.

I love 6 and 7 almost as much, so I can't wait to re-watch those as well.

Thank you very very much Alex, Vinny, Dan, and Austin of course. I love hearing their reactions to these movies. Just the same way I really loved Drew's reactions to the Metal Gears. I have seen all of them in a theater and own all so far.

This one was my favorite until I saw 7. These last couple movies are entertaining, fun, stupidly impossible (amazing) set pieces. I cant wait for 6 & 7, best thing on GB right now IMO. PS. I personally drink an energy drink while watching along.

God dammit, this movie's so fucking good. Every time.

As much as I enjoyed this, all I can of is how much I'd have loved to have seen this group be GBeast going forward. Would be such a great combination of personalities

I had a similar issue although I was certain I was getting the extended version but alas turns out it wasn't. The funniest thing is that I looked up the scene differences online ( here ) and it's barely over a minute longer, and Fast 6 has even LESS extra scenes in the extended version. Anyway for Fast 6 I'll make sure I'm watching the extended because for half the movie I had to fiddle around with pausing the movie and was constantly paranoid that I'm ahead or behind which slightly ruined the experience.

I also remember nothing about Fast 6 so it's gonna be good!

Please re-evaluate your decision to use the extended cuts. There are so many reasons why this doesn't work for a significant number of premium members.
