Premium Podcasts: Film & 40s: Killer Klowns from Outer Space

Oct. 19th 2018

What kind of clowns would record themselves getting drunk and watching weird horror movies? The Giant Beast clowns, of course! Join these clowns as they clown around on this 1980s clown horror classic! CLOWNS!

Episode Notes:

This podcast is an audio supplement, meant to be played simultaneously with the film Killer Klowns from Outer Space. We are watching the film via a US Blu-ray release. Streaming and rental options can be found here.

Our commentary begins at the film's one second mark, right as the MGM logo is fading up.

Without jumping to the end and assuming that they're going to tell what movie Vinny picked, I'm guessing it'll be either Ghostbusters or Butterfly Effect. Not that BE is a horror movie, but if Premonition made the cut...

Now to watch this wonderful thing.

@glots: As of Beastcast 178, it's a tossup between Jason X and The Thing. Jason X fits this feature better than The Thing.

I don't have it in me to watch this movie again. I just can't.

MrGreenMan •

I remember seeing this batshit movie as a young teen and fell in love with dumb awful movies ever since. This dumb movie brings me so much joy.

Dosmoney •

love this terrible movie.

WulfBane •

love this wonderful movie

One of my favorite bad movies! I came to this movie as a child, shortly after learning that John Vernon is a relative of mine. It was gleeful to see someone from my family line being an unashamedly villainous cad in pretty much every appearance he was in.

Bobulus •

Really hyped to watch this one. This was one of those movies that you'd see at 3am on the scifi channel and wonder the next day if it was real. Ridiculous, cheesy fun.

Blister •

NO NO NO This destroyed me as a child, AHHHH KLOWNS

Aw man, now I need to know what Abby decided not to say on the 'cast! Probably something delightfully filthy.

dreadpan •

Watching this as a young child was a terrible decision.

Just heard that on the commentary too. I'd definitely be up for watching The Thing, but Jason X would probably be the right dumb pick for this.

This was a great commentary and the movie was still as good and dumb as the last time I saw it! Also had to listen to Mooney's voice for a handful of minutes, before realizing that he played Rubert Thorne in Batman TAS.

shoshiaj •

One of my all time fav bad movies.

ShaggE •

YES. This was one of my dream Film & 40s that I didn't think you'd ever actually do. Can't wait to listen! I absolutely adore Killer Klowns.

Edit: Alex Na-scar-ro.

Edit 2: Just finished, so good. I still say Dan would LOVE 80s horror in general, given that so much of it is comedy in disguise.

And I hope it's Jason X next week. That movie is 100% F&40s material.

Splodge •

This was great. Well done Beastcast!!!

As far as next weeks, I LOVE The Thing too, but Jason X might be a better fit. I would certainly be happy with either though.

This was good fun, the movie and the Film & 40s. Thanks, Beasters.

As for next week's movie: The Thing is great, but I don't know that I would want to watch that with Giant Bomb commentary. Dan is right about Jason X being the right breed of stupid, especially for this.

Undeadpool •

Time for some Killer Krusty Klowns and-waitaminute...THAT'S NOT GOOD!

I'd love an excuse to see the Thing once again!

Jason X even though a good dumb pick for commentary, I kinda don't wanna ever see it again. One time was enough lol.

CornBREDX •

Cool. I've been waiting for this. This movie has basically been a staple of my October every year for the last 25 or so years.

Holy crap, good memory! I got to the "...I know what you college-aged-flunkies are trying to do! Drive me off the force!" part, and I was like, damn I know that voice.

They should have been drinking 40's of Faygo for this movie.

Hey UK folks this is currently on Netflix, haven't tested it yet for sync issues though.

Bobulus •

If what I'm reading is true...

The Chiodos may not have played the ice cream idiots, but apparently Charles Chiodo played the 18-foot-tall Boss Clown!

meandmoves •

Please do "The FP". Please please please.

Fontelroy •

I think you made this impossible for me to sync :'(
Nevermind! I did it you guys!

Can anyone verify if the remastered release syncs up fine with this?

pmurph03 •

Might be my favorite film and 40's since they did the fast and furious movies.

Dosmoney •

The thing is great, but Jason X is perfect for F&F

Lazycon •

This is one of my all time favorite flicks. I loved watching you guys enjoy it. Also, I hope you guys choose Jason X because if I hear people talking over The Thing I'll go insane. That movie is way too good and way to classic to make a peep over. It's just pure tension.

"Do not get excited by these fuckable clowns!"

bb4lake  Online •

I think The Thing is a perfect movie, but I’ve seen Jason X way more times. It is perfect for this feature.

Dethfish •

The Thing is too good of a movie to listen to drunk rambling over

That... was... A MASTERPIECE. Also, I hope they choose Jason X, if only because I seriously just watched The Thing yesterday. Happy Halloween Month!

Can anyone verify if the remastered release syncs up fine with this?

I can! Perfectly. There was no lion roaring at the start of my copy, but everything worked out.

NickFoley •

I bought it on Amazon because it was only $1 more than the rental and I liked this movie enough to buy the Blu-ray with all the special features.

Another good Film & 40's in the books!

The Dickies’ theme song is just so damn great.

Never seen this film, but I might have to give this ago.

processr •

the real killer klowns are the clowns in congress, am i right folks?????

Awesome, thanks for the tip - looks like I know what I'm doing tonight for sure!

Ravelle •

Fantasic movie, this was fun!

Also that off-brand Dead Kennedy's clown song is hilarious.

Bats •

I never saw this movie fully before so this is just about the best way possible to give it a whirl. Time to get in~

vdortizo •

YES!! I needed an excuse to watch this again!!!

Jellybones •

Hot damn, that movie was great. Way better than I would have ever guessed.

Dichemstys •

I've never listened to a Film & 40s but I think this is the place to start.
