So about Chadley, they don't seem to know he is a andriod made by Hjo for the purpose of spying on Cloud and getting battle data off him

As a big fan of the original, I really liked the remake. I thought it was pretty faithful to the source material too. They didn’t really revive Zack. He’s only alive in an alternate universe. Other than that it is really faithful to the original and absolutely captures its grand spirit in my opinion. If all else fails, Kitase will keep FF7’s legacy intact.

I can’t wait for part 2 when they explore the characters back stories by visiting their hometowns especially Barret’s hometown and Dyne. My proudest gaming achievement is still beating Emerald Weapon 22 years ago. Although, the Weapons probably won’t be a thing until part 3.

Edit: Holy shit... Nomura is only 45?!

I don’t know anything about Kingdom Hearts, but I really hope they don’t turn FF7R into that. Just hearing those two games mentioned in the same sentence makes me cringe.

FF7 is my favorite game and this remake left me a bit mixed and not at all interested in a sequel. The main issue is pacing. The pacing is just bad throughout, especially during dungeons. FF7 is partly my favorite game because the variety of locales and fast pace to the story.

The biggest issue though is the end. I think rewriting the plot is cool in theory but the execution here is bad. The way Aerith just knows everything and the way these generic monsters look. It's a huge turn off and reminds me of the worst parts of Kingdom Hearts.

The game was also very poorly balanced. Enemies are a cakewalk while some bosses are very difficult. Consistency would be nice. I don't know why they wanted so many one-on-one fights. They aren't fun. Materia management is a huge pain in the ass. Should be able to learn and keep magic skills.

@dan_citi: if you, or anyone else reading this wants to go down the rabbit hole, Maximilian_dood will show you just how deep this convoluted meta-story goes. It's kind of crazy how different the story feels going through it again once you hear his explanation of what the sephiroth stuff actually means and entails. Easy Allies did a spoilercast with him that has him go through his whole rundown and I highly recommend it.

I loved what this game did in treating its characters as known entities. As soon as I saw that brief flash of Aerith's death I was excited to think how they're going to "correct" the original game and timeline. It's nice knowing there is a new story going forward.

Also in the Hell House fight I loved how the announcers would acknowledge your summon like it was a normal thing. "Uh oh! Looks like the goddess of ice decided to show up!"
