I don't have much of a feeling about Merritt personally (I didn't think they were great on the last GMM), but it seems like their presence upsets a lot of people in the community, so I'm not sure why they keep being brought back.

merritt is delightful and I'm glad to see her every time she's invited to content on Giant Bomb. It is sad that we still have people who insist on trying to destroy this woman's career over dumb tongue-in-cheek jokes that she apologized for ages ago and rumors that anybody can spend 5 minutes on Google to determine that they are completely unsubstantiated.

I put some time into looking into why there is so much hate towards this person, and I just couldn't find anything. I honestly don't even know what the accusations are, other than vague mentions of some sort of abuse in a reddit thread, after spending a half hour scouring the internet. I did the same thing when Abby had them on The Beastcast, and couldn't find anything. I'm not on twitter, but if they were so reprehensible it must have made its way to other places, right?

I'd sincerely like to know what this person is accused of doing that makes them so toxic to parts of the GB audience because I couldn't figure it out myself.

This was addressed on today's Discord call. The team looked into it and couldn't find much, trusted co-workers of the person could vouch for them, so GB was comfortable with it. Everyone saw the feedback and took it seriously, but the conclusion is that they're ok with the guest.

And you know what, if that amount of effort and research isn't enough to convince you, then sounds like it'll just be a dealbreaker for some people regardless.

Hello commenter, if like me you are annoyed with this decision and have decided to cancel your sub, may I recommend you donate that subscription to your local lgbt+ community, we may not be able to influence any decisions being made here but I dont see why we cant turn that energy into something positive like supporting lgbt+ communities.
