Game Mess Mornings 6/23/22

This conversation unlocked a memory of the last time a Sonic game tried to tackle themes of sadness and empathy and such: the infamous "mountain of handkerchiefs" ending from Sonic And The Secret Rings.

@xenonxylophone: I had never seen that, and I laughed out loud while cringing from secondhand embarrassment...and then I read the comments, where people seem to think this is some powerful dramatic moment?! It's one of the corniest things I've ever seen!

@beggary: The Sonic audience seems to skew quite young, so that tracks. A lot of things feel deep when you’re at an impressionable age.
But my friends and I were all pushing 20 when that game dropped. We laughed about that ending for weeks!

The best Sonic 3 and Knuckles songs are Ice Cap Zone, Final Boss(S3) Lava Reef Zone(act 2 is even better), and Sky Sanctuary.

Def should take a listen to them. Sonic 3 and Knuckles OST.

I also didn't enjoy Carnival Night Zone music.

That theme is hot Jeff Grubb, sorry. Original Sonic 3 & Knuckles OST FTW!

And I love Carnival Night Zone even better knowing the King of Pop composed it.

Edit: I also got sucked down the Trials of Cold Steel vortex, Jan. I'll say this much, don't start playing the games unless you're ready to commit. But if you do, the games are decent with a good continuous storyline.

Mouse and Keyboard works fantastic on Stadia, and also pretty good on GeForceNOW, so I'd expect that it will work well on Xbox Streaming.

Sad Sonic was envisioned and voiced by Larry King while interviewing Ben Schwartz.

Wasn't the whole "Show Stealing Game" bit just a reference to it being a heist game? I think that was just a tease, rather than a literal 'We think this is going to be the biggest summer game announcement' thing.
