I never thought of Tae as a shopkeeper in "Persona 5," but, yeah, I guess she was. Really enjoyed her quest line.

I'm glad this is a category. I also played RE4 for the first time this year, and I think Necrodancer as well, so it's been a good year for shopkeepers for me.

Them playing the Person 5 soundtrack for Iwai has reminded me how amazing that soundtrack is, which makes me really want to do a NG+ just to hear it again...

Holy shit, the jazz piano riff of the Bombcast music at the end of this is sweet!

Beedle is my vote for best shopkeeper, he's so charming, sweet and funny. However, the only 2 games on this list I've played are BotW and Animal Crossing PC.

They don't have a feed of the Google Doc they use for these deliberations, right? Should be a major part of these video podcasts so that people can easily follow along with the discussion.

@crashtanuki: They do, it slides up from time to time. You can see them putting stars on the titles.

What about Pascal from Nier Automata?

At the end of the game, if you make the choice of wiping his memory after THAT scene with the kids, he goes back to his now-decimated village and starts selling the leftover parts from the dead robots littering the area. He doesn't realize that those were the robots he used to call his friends and family just a few hours ago.

@tchog: That part broke me wide open. I had to get up and go for a walk, and since I was playing it in November in NY, that meant a cold walk. Lol

Then after finishing I heard Alex say the same thing on the Waypoint spoilercast, and knew then he was probably putting that Nier the top of his GOTY list same as me. No game has affected me so much emotionally in a long time. And then DDLC hit me 10x as hard a couple weeks later. Games are good in 2017.

Can we please get some graphics in post referencing what game they're talking about during these segments. I'm trying to figure out who "Emile" is during this segment and it's hard to follow along.

Handibot was not up for best new character last year. He should have been, but yall snubbed him cause you're no fun.

It's tough to argue against Emil, even if I think Gun Daddy or Goth Doctor would give him a run for his money. I have yet to play Pyre, so I can't comment on Falcon Ron, but Porkrind is such a nothing background character that to see him even be mentioned at all is shocking.
