this and demo derby are my favorite series! The amount of history that is not only in those but from the stories Jeff, Brad, and Dan can tell make these so great!

Also the semi-cringy campiness of 90s and early 00s video game culture creates some beautiful nostalgia.

God dammit I am actually crying seeing Iwata again. I remember watching all of these Nintendo press conferences as a young Nintendo fan and it somehow hit me all over again that he is no longer with us.

p.s. Yes Jeff that DS Tony Hawk did come out as Tony Hawk's American Sk8land. It was pretty fun. It had online play and you could download custom sprays to put in the world.

This was the one year I got to go to E3, too. Got to play the GC version of Twilight Princess before they announced it on the Wii. My friends were pretty jealous back in the day.

I didn't cry, but dammit, there was something poignant about the impromptu moment of silence by the crew as Iwata took the stage.

The stuttering really does make a case for Game Tapes rather than Game .flvs. I bet .flvs don't even have magnets.

Was the black Wii never released in the US? It came out in the UK eventually (quite a bit later, came with the motion plus stuff and Wii Sports Resort packed in). I've got one, it's a real cool looking system.

I completely forgot Smash Bros Wii even had online, and they lead the announcement with that being the defining new feature. The online was just garbage for that game. Didn't have any of the features you want, and the netcode was absolute trash. Even playing over ethernet with friends that have good connections would still result in lag fests.

The only thing I remember using Wii's online mode for at all was buying Virtual Console games, and Mario Kart Wii when that got released way later in the system's life.

I totally saw a stream of this conference. I remember that GBA Micro thing so much.
