@deadstar: One of the CBSi engineers on UPF said that the embiggen function has been temporarily retired, but that it will return at a later date.

Not the function, the Andre the Giant sprite. Fill Browser (aka Embiggen) as well as "Embiggen" (expand to 720p) are both under the full screen button hover.

Vinny's face when he shows off the coins to the camera... Priceless. Perfect, "Awww yissssssss" moments.

Definitely a fun and relaxing playdate. But seriously, UPF not entertaining in years? C'mon, I can point to a few videos in the past few months that don't have the east crew visiting and the comments have a lot of folks saying that it was great.

Vinny's dead eye QVEW stare during Alex's Hanger 18 solos is kind of hilarious.

I love all the wird stuff GBEast is putting out lately.

I hope GBWest will get some more people soon, I guess they have much more "bureaucratic" stuff to handle at Headquarters and not that much time to produce new content

@nightriff: unfortunately I've felt similarly since Vinny left as well. Maybe it's time to throw the format out and just do whatever, gaming related or not. I always felt that the best segments were handicapped by the strict format of the show. Remember how awesome the Tamodachi Life segment was? Imagine how awesome that UPF would've been had they just kept going with it the whole time

It can be fun to see people really geek out over their hobbies even or sometimes especially if it isn't something of personal interest.

This was a cool stream. It brought back memories of playing the hell out of this trying to nail The Trooper on expert, much to my roommate's dismay. This is back when the plastic instrument genre was pure. Even though it was all covers it was cool. It also reminds me of why I ultimately preferred RB's note highway, because it's way easier to tell which notes are HO/PO.

Enjoyed seeing Vinny be able to calm down with something that fascinates him after how much the SoulCalibur This is the Run series has made him so crazy.

Man, I didn't expect to feel weird about reading that post. I'm not opposed to him selling the collection at all, but selling things that are sometimes upwards of 200 years old (wasn't one of those coins even from the 18th century?) in order to buy something that'll last around 6-8 years - if even that long considering they're professionals who need their stuff to be fairly up to date - really feels wrong.

I'd almost feel obliged to invest the money into something more lasting than that.

I completely agree. I would hate to see him sell these coins for a video card that these days you are lucky to get three good years out of. But at the same time he does not seem to care much about them, despite being passed on from his grandfather.

This is a fun stream to have on my other monitor while I do my Legion world quests.

Also, Vinny's blank stares into my soul while showing the coins off was truly haunting.

Really taking me back with Guitar Hero 2. I remember staying up all night at a lock-in my 6th grade class had when I was in middle school. I remember my friends and I fighting for the guitar and acting like complete buffoons. Oh the memories.

Beast is killing it. Film and Forties Fast Furious franchise was so good. This video is amazing. This is the Run has been great. 100th Beastcast with Austin was really special.

I still love the West Coast Duders, always will. I really hope they find new talent soon, as I love the guys when they have fresh perspective in the room.

This stream is delightful. I got out GH2 and 3, and I've got a 3-coin set of Liberty Walking half-dollars from 35, 41, and 45 that I'm taking to be appraised tomorrow. Thanks Vinny and Alex!

Question for @alex: Did you have any trouble with calibrating GH2 for a modern TV? It was basically unplayable for me.

See, I can understand the sentimental value angle but I don't get the idea that old things intrinsically have more value than new things. If Alex doesn't care about them, they have no value to him - by selling them, he gets value in the form of money but also whoever buys them gets value in the form of some cool new coins they wanted. It's literally a win-win.

It's not like by selling them they're magically going to disappear off the face of the Earth - if anything it's probably better for the coins if he sells them to someone who actually wants to put effort into preserving them.

Yeah, that's my take on it too. If Alex holds onto them for sentimental value, that's cool. But if he decides to sell them for some hot dollars, that's also cool; the buyer is likely someone who would know much more about the coins than most and as such would be able to take care of them.

The way Vinny looks at the monitor to see if the coins are in focus but he's basically staring at the viewer while alex plays punk music in guitar hero is incredible.

Yeah, honestly I think his grandfather would want Alex to derive some kind of use from the coins, and if that means cash for other things like a hobby he enjoys, bills, or just more savings, grandpa probably wouldn't mind. I know I wouldn't mind if it was MY grandkid.

I'd berate Alex's piss-poor play, but playing a rhythm game while talking or trying to absorb coin history is near impossible, even if you're good at these games (which he admitted he's not).

This turned into a bizarrely personal stream for me, I recently purchased (probably for too much money) a 1958 quarter as a gift for my girlfriend because the first movie we saw in the theater together was No Country for Old Men and also the first time she ever came to my house we played GH2.

So, Alex's band name in Guitar Hero 2 is "Freezersuits," which is also the name of a Midnight Brown song. Anyone know the meaning of the term?

I really hope this isn't just a one time thing. I like the idea behind this video. Kind of a semi-educational show and tell while a game is being played. Maybe next time Vinny could talk some about oscilloscopes or something while Dan and Alex play a platformer or some kind of local multiplayer game. Or maybe Dan and Alex could discuss wrestling while Vinny plays an open world game. Or bring in a guest to talk about something interesting and educational. GBE is definitely putting out some really great video content. Loving it, guys. Please bring us more like this!

Also, please play Shenmue 2 so I don't have to.

Going through a rough time and this is really peaceful to watch, along with a noise generator in the background.

Also, Guitar Hero 2 was and still is the best Harmonix rhythm game. Wish I still had my set kicking around.

Edit: ayyyyy bb, elephant bones. Does anyone know where I can buy That Handsome Devil's discography and own it? I wanna listen to their music but don't want it to be trapped in an ecosystem.
