If anyone can clue me in as to what was going on in that last ending literally DM me

The last ending shown here was the one I got on my play through. I don't know what that says about me as a person.

Couldn't have asked for a better ending (to the Playdate, not the game. The game was a fucking tire fire).

I have such a soft spot for terrible FMV games. They're what I grew up with as a child. Watching things like this, I have no idea how I turned out remotely okay.

I just wish I could make sense of the endings. Are there, is there a good ending? Info is terribly hard to find on the game.

Edit: Found enough to know that theres nothing close to a 'good' ending. Not that there's anywhere for the plot to go really.

I love that on some level this ended with a sort of "fade out (fuck this game)" motif.

@alex The crazy bit at the end with Michael on his knees hearing heartbeats is mentioned in one of his diary notes (the one you guys glossed over when Dan was off to the toilet). Something from his youth involving a guy named Mark who wanted to die, blah blah.

Coincidentally, that was the only diary note I actually read in its entirety while watching all three episodes of this playdate. I don't know why.

They mentioned the same team made another FMV game. They should totally play through that, whatever it is.

Anybody have a link to its Amazon page? I might never buy it, but I so very definitely want to add it to my wishlist. This whole series was - in the best sense of the term - a ridiculous major shit show. Haven't being repulsed while I was laughing my butt off this much at the same time in maybe ever.

I am lost for words after that final ending. Can't wait to see what FMV game you guys do next!

I seem to remember from my playthrough that Mark ends up in a coma and Michael and Mark's wife have sex in the hospital. Then after Mark dies Michael goes to their childhood hangout and has a "Tell Tale Heart" moment.

I got the same ending as the Duders, but went into the directory and watched the other endings. I've literally got no idea what that last ending was about about. Is Kathryn supposed to be scared of them and can't leave?

Don't go chasing waterfalls. Please, stick to the rivers and lakes that you're used to.

@alex Christopher Walken was also in Privateer 2: The Darkening, a game starring a very early-career Clive Owen. And John Hurt! And everyone else.

Yeah, it's weird. I saw a playthrough where they got the ending with Michael and Allison in bed and he hears Jody yell "Daddy!" but then it ends there without the nurse in bed scene. Which implys that Michael now has the same delusion that Allison has that Jody is still alive. Which I thought (all things considered) was fairly decent.

For any curious, here's the follow-up mentioned on stream called Point of View (2001). It somehow looks even worse with a smaller budget and worse acting, but not even in a fun way. I don't think the guys should (or will) cover it but it's interesting that it even exists. Looks like the shame boy grew up to be a shame man.

I remember an old Roger & Ebert segment where Roger watches a film in a theater where every seat has a remote control, and the audience chooses what the characters do next and the interactive film decides based on the audience poll. It was promoted as the future of film. I wonder what that thing was called.

God help me, I read the book on which this is based. My thoughts ran a little long, so I've posted them on the gold mine that is social media. FWIW, the ending the book uses is the "usual" ending, the one we got (the prologue mentioned upthread takes place between the murder and the arrest). I absolutely don't recommend anyone read the book, for the record. I'll leave this bit here, though: "Her breasts pointed at me accusingly, defiantly."

As mentioned previously, this team did actually make another interactive movie this team made, P.O.V. (Edit: Ninja'd upthread.) I have a copy but haven't played it. Don't worry: it's staying safe with me and isn't coming anywhere near the East offices.

Anyhow, thanks very much to the guys for playing through this. This runthrough was everything I could have wanted and more.

Haha, that Michael is some piece of work. I mean, I get it, guys are horny, but he's just silly.

I haven't played the game, but if I understand it correctly, someone always falls from the stairs in the end. So I thought that bit with Kathryn in Jody's bed had to be some kind of brain damage as a result of the fall. Whatever the case, it's terribly conveyed by the actress. I see no fear, nor mental problems. She seems almost annoyed. She must have realized at that moment that this game wasn't going to make her career.

I thought Christopher Walken was in "Gone Home" and "Vanishing of Ethan Carter" - you know, Walken simulators.

That end is just perfect

Perfect end to an excellent series. What a game(?).

An exhaustive level of bafflement. That's what this entire episode did to me.

I wish I hadn't missed this live, but I'm "excited" if that's the right word, to watch it back now. :P
