I live in Schaumburg. I'll check it out, but I can't see it being successful. 40,000 sq/ft is huge. The mall's gamestop is right next to it. I sense cross promotion.
I have a friend who was hired on to work here about 2-3 weeks ago. He said then, that they were testing out stuff before it officially opened, so if you made a reservation it was free to eat. Do not know if that is still going on.
This seems very tone deaf, if this were a dirty pizza, laid back place, that'd make more sense, this place might not last too long, the ad video on their site is very overproduced and obnoxious, it seems like that they're not sure who this place is for.
They could potentially do huge launch events for the games they publish, if they're smart.
I had bugged Patrick for about a month before he left about this. Now I know why he never answered. @jeff should totally come out to Chicago for it and have a Giant Bomb Midwest event at Level 257
I went there last night. The place was alright. It's pretty big and has some cool Pac-Man and other video game memorabilia in some glass cases. They have about 16 bowling lanes and a bunch of arcade games, ranging from Pac-Man and Tapper to Mario Kart Arcade GP DX. I also got to play Baby Pac-Man, which is a weird game.
They definitely have a lot of issues to work out, which is probably to be expected. The service was somewhat poor, and the waiter's ordering tablet said they were out half their cocktails and even the burger, but it's nothing they can't fix over the next few weeks.
@briguyd: I work at Woodfield mall. I clock-in for my job and then 9 hours later, I clock-out. I don't like venturing around that mall if I don't have to. Suburbanites annoy the hell out of me. So thanks for testing out the restaurant. I am eager to give it a shot. Maybe when the hype dies down in a few months.
