I have heard mixed responses from - Quest and achievements might return in a few months - to - quests were too much effort and achievements always broke, they might return with the next gen of consoles.

Given that Whiskey had one staff member devoted to quests and they made like 10 bucks total ad revenue off them - quests are dead IMO.

weird to think i had zero concept of a framerate back then, just calling it slowdown.

don't remember any really traumatic experiences with slowdown. maybe it creeped up with some of the mode 7 stuff or in star fox but that was about it...

also this is perfect timing as i can listen to this while i head down to the store :)

I'd say the best life any humans will ever live is probably the white male of the 1950s-60s living in California, with the surf and sun life and all that. That being said, you're pretty much on the money.

But yeah, video games.

i would like to believe this but i have my very strong doubts. i do agree we only think our place in time is special due to our cute narrow-minded anthropocentric chauvinism. ;)

@jeff Balancing wheels is still done the same way, and sticky weights aren't as commonly used as you would think.

Not really liking how the guys have been talking about games lately. I think they need some new consoles to get their minds of complaining so much. I'm tired of them comparing games to others but then tell us not to compare review scores.

@fiberpay: Oh, well they'll surely change their tune because of your dislike of negativity and criticism.

For the most part, that's the research I do when buying a product. I check Amazon Best Sellers list, read some user reviews, and at times, maybe do a quick Google search to glimpse over a professional review or two.

That's is what I did with the last TV I purchased (i.e. Samsung UN32EH4003). Amazon had it on sale during Black Friday for $250, and the users review average was above 4 stars. Did a quick Google search, and CNet gave it a very good score. I kinda of wish it had a headphone jack, but than again, I knew that going in.

@contrarygravitas: No, I'm with him. I actually stopped listening to the Bombcast for good a few weeks ago, because it seems that none of their hearts are in it any more. I just get the feeling now that they hate the industry and their jobs, and that doesn't make for an enjoyable listen.

we're at the end of the cycle and the start of the year, games haven't been great lately. and I don't get the feeling they hate their jobs at all, they produce fantastic content constantly

Can someone explain what Patrick is talking about at 1:26:35 (when they are talking about Dead Space) when he says "I was one of the guys in [Dead Space] 1 where I was always walking in front of myself with a limb." I have no idea why, but I can't make any sense of this statement, and it is driving me crazy.

@bonzaiimonkey: He's talking about using Kinesis to pull off a necromorph limb to throw at an enemy. That wasn't such a big deal in Dead Space 1, but it was pretty effective in 2.

@legion_: have you not payed attention to when Dave and Alexis talked on the videos? if not they said that it's to hard to do quests and not much benefit for having them so, for now they are gone. So like me you'll have to deal with never getting a me first quest finish unfortunately..

im kindaaa with you guys in that i dont enjoy these bombcasts as i used to anymore (the enthusiasm has decreased over the years), but i dont enjoy them as much for different reasons though, i really DONT think they hate the industry and their jobs, far from that, but i think the age old complaint is true that these guys are cynical, the what i define as cynicism overshadows when they do talk positive and highly of stuff,

but to their credit though they are getting better though, they are rounding out their opinions better (listen to more jeff and brad for what i mean),.......but theres still pieces of the podcast thats a real drag to listen to when they are just stripping a game to its basics and "complaining",.......but its also these guys jobs to be exposed to all games while we get to pick and choose from the best thanks to these guys so its not that sort of a surprise when they talk about something that they do rip it to its basics far more than i think is necessary..........

ah fuck, all that ramble aside, id say just take a break from the bombcast and go listen to the 8-4 play podcast, they are a different enough podcast that has more enthusiasm lately.

I was actually doing the same thing. I was invading the forest and killing gankers with my SL 48 character.
