I have a feeling this week's Bombcast will be a bit sobering. Rest in Peace Mr. Iwata.

YAY! I've been waiting all day!

I thought that Shigesato Itoi's eulogy for Iwata was particularly touching, so I'm going to post it here:

"When I'm parting with a friend, regardless of the circumstances, I find it best to just say, 'See you later.' We'll meet again. After all, we're friends. That's right - nothing unusual about it. I'll see you later.

"You went on a trip far, far away, even though it was planned for many years from now. You wore your best outfit and said 'Sorry for the short notice,' though you didn't say it out loud. You always put yourself last, after you'd finished helping everyone else. You were so generous as a friend that this trip might be your very first selfish act.

"I still can't grasp what's happened. It feels like I could still get a light-hearted e-mail asking me out to lunch at any moment - after you've made sure lunch wouldn't disrupt my schedule, of course. You can invite me out whenever you want. I'll invite you, too. So for now, let's plan on meeting again. You can call me up whenever you like, and I'll give you a call, too. I still have a lot to talk to you about, and if I come up with any particularly good ideas, I'll let you know.

"So let's meet again. No - I suppose we're already meeting. Right here, right now."

It seems kind of strange to feel bad about the death of a CEO of a company. I guess now I understand how those Apple fanboys felt when Steve Jobs passed away.

I look forward to hearing GB's memories of Iwata-san. Still sad about it.

@instantryan: I think they're recording them earlier than usual, like on Monday afternoons, bare in mind, the gaming scene is in the "summer drought" period, so the office is probably a bit quieter

I found God of War 3 Remastered automatically downloaded and ready to launch on my PS4 yesterday. I don't remember buying it, but uh, ok. Guess I"ll be playing it.

RIP Iwata-san. I'm glad for an early Bombcast, very interested to hear the crew give their thoughts on this sad news.

RIP Iwata. I thought it was great of Brad and his Dota team to add Iwata-related games onto their usernames during the tournament last weekend.

Dan's stock market glossary is lacking. Long vs short isn't about length of time, it's basically whether you think the stock will do worse. When you 'short' a stock you basically promise to provide X shares at a later data but at the current price. That way if the stock price falls, you pay less for the stock than you get paid. Meanwhile 'long' is buying shares the normal way: paying up front because you expect the stock to rise and selling later for a profit.

Iwata-san brought so much joy 'directly' into my family through Nintendo and the Nintendo Directs he was in. His passing caught me off guard, and I'm still trying to find a way to put how I feel into words. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends, and I can honestly say he will never be forgotten. Also Dan and the stock market are two words I never thought I'd hear together.

OK, while listening the first commercial section, I felt really good about the fact that in the podsurvey, I wrote that one of the reason I follow bombcast is the "mattress related stuff".

Cool one of these podcasts, on a Tuesday no less.

Hello Bombcast

RIP Iwata his enthusiasm will be sorely missed.

Really liked the Iwata and Nintendo talk.

The world will remember your name, Iwata. You became the president for a reason, and that reason is you were the best you could be. You were you. HAL Labs may have lost a former colleague, Nintendo may have lost a president, and the world has lost an icon. But above all, they lost a friend. But if there's one thing they did not lose... it's you. You live on in the hearts and minds of your fans and friends. And although I was never a huge fan, I see the pain in the world's eyes. You helped make the last 13 years of Nintendo true and triumphant. You may not be a president of Nintendo now, but you are still as influential to your fans and friends. So here and now, I thank you for Super Smash Bros., for the Wii and DS, for the Wii U, and for defining the eighth generation of video games. Above all, I thank you for making my friends happy.

You were the heart and soul of Nintendo for 13 years. May that heart and soul live on forever.

And one more thing: I commend any man who can stare at a fruit so well and so dedicated.

An early Bombcast is always welcome, even when it has to deal with tougher news. Plus, even in this time of the Summer drought there's always still thousands of games to go back to. And when all else fails, we'll still have terrible food ideas to discuss and energy drinks to taste!

And of course to say it once more: Thank you, Mr. Iwata. R.I.P.
