Giant Bombcast 11/12/2013

If the Quick Look was supposed to be indicative of what you would see at a tournament, that might make sense, but you're comparing them showing you what it would be like to play a game yourself to a spectator sport. Those aren't even close to the same thing. Watching a sport on TV or at an arena doesn't really tell you a lot about what it would actually be like to play that sport, all the training and "beginner shit" that went on for years prior to any event you'd pay to see.

If you just want to see high-level play that you will likely never be able to match yourself, look for tournaments, or speed-runs. Those are more equivalent to spectator sports than a Quick Look.

Vinny needs to host the podcast, every week

Its good to hear some relatively sensible talk about Dark Souls, instead of the usual excitable 'Its the hardest game ever!' nonsense. The game is tough, but its nowhere near as hard as most people make out. Other than a handful of exceptions, the game is perfectly manageable without entering a monk like state of concentration, or having to spend months honing your skills.

Its like any other RPG - if you can't manage a section, then just level up and upgrade your gear. And wonder of wonders - it gets easier!

A Life Well Wasted takes 6 months to produce and Vinny bangs this out in a day.

Loved this. The Blockbuster Video apocalypse story with the grim background audio almost made me pull over to the side of the road and collect myself. These Vinny-casts have been sensational, you're a properly great host.

Vinny LITERALLY adds production value to anything he's in!

I was already psyched for a Vinny cast but the addition of Brad and Jeff 2.0 made it even better.

The music made this into a spiritual journey.

I nominate Vinny to be the new editor of the Bombcast forever.

I loved the new Brad and Jeff but I gotta say I didn't much like the music. I felt it was distracting and detracted from the actual conversation.

It was also a bit too loud and could be mixed better. I often found I had to turn it down then I couldn't hear the actual talking (I normally listen to it on the bus).

All that said, it was hilarious and one of my favorite bombcasts.

I think we need to have these three(sorry Drew) spin off to be their own podcast. It reminded me of the old, awesome, informative Idle Thumbs where it was super interesting to hear industry vets talk about the process and Vinny asking the right questions to keep them going.

What a wonderful episode! It's rare to hear such a relaxed, level-headed discussion about the gaming industry. Really insightful and highly entertaining. Brad Muir is always very cool to have around and I actually eagerly anticipate any Jeff Green appearance nowadays. Dude can't be on enough stuff as far as I'm concerned!
