So @danryckert missed a few things when talking about the Elite Controller. I wrote a review (and shot a video review) and posted it on the site.

I am happy about the Stratego talk, a friend of mine has Stratego 4 and we play it on the regular. Such a great board game.

Ah man I miss some of the ol' city trash talking. Probably one of my favorite email beef wars from awhile back. So hilarious.

The prequels are not even fun. They are awful movies in every aspect. Even the third one is awful.

As someone who doesn't think highly of the original trilogy, I got more enjoyment out of the prequels because of the fight scenes. I wouldn't try to convince anyone that those movies were great though.

I've been able to use both my 360 gamepad and steam controller to move the mouse cursor in menus outside of games. Drew doesn't have to get the lLogitech K400 even though it's a pretty good keyboard. I think he just needs to fiddle around with some of the controller settings.

Whoever it was who said "Hayatome" when Jeff was talking about Golgo being Japanimation had a more natural sounding Japanese accent than anything Andrew House said in that Kojima video. I'm not even kidding.

Here it is: http://picosong.com/QKnd/

Pretty sure it was Jason.

I have always unironically enjoyed the SW prequels. Still do. I watched Ep 2 and 3 a couple weeks ago since out of all them movies I hadn't watched those for the longest and yep still enjoyed them. Sure, they're not great. That doesn't stop me from liking them. I find them fun. Also, watching Ep2 for the first time since I was a teenager had the added "benefit" of realizing how much Anakin's lines make him sound like a total creep. Never picked up on that before. I'll admit that a large part of the reason I like them probably has to do with the fact that I was 8 years old when The Phantom Menace came out. So I was pretty much the "right age" for all 3 of those movies. (Also just as a side note yes I saw the original trilogy before the prequels ever came out and yes those movies are way better and I love them dearly.)

@aktivity: I like when the fight scenes are actually part of the story and tell a story themselves. Those in the prequels didn't do that, sadly, but they are more obligatory action scenes for the sake of such.

Annual GotY Podcast re-listening update: I'm currently at the final day of 2011 (that's SRIII vs Skyrim, if you weren't sure). Probably going to have to ramp up my content consumption a tad as they get longer pretty much year on year, but I'll definitely get there in time.

In the meantime, however - e-mails!

Yeah that whole thing about no outside food or drink being an urban legend is a weird thing considering every theatre ive been to in Texas literally had signs hat said:

"No outside food or drinks allowed", if you walked in with a soda from a fast food restaraunt down the street they made you throw it away before entering the section with the movie screens.

Guess I'll be the guy to say that because I didn't see them on release and when I eventually did, they were a lot less bad than people make them out to be. Jar Jar really sucks, and the majority of it is boring with unnecessary explanations and references throughout, but the basic outline of Anakin's story is not conceptually awful.

I is bad though Darth Maul is very interesting (though ultimately worthless) villain. II doesn't improved much. III is an above average film. It's not great, but it is a significant improvement (despite some notable atrocious scenes).

For me I'd rank them V, IV, III, VI, II, I, from best to worst (with IV and V significantly better than any of the others). I haven't seen VII yet.

My man! The Riff, "These guys must have about one bar on their Force right now..." comparing the bumbling adventures of Anakin and Kenobi in the beginning of Episode 3 to poor cell phone reception absolutely destroyed me.

"JaBUH the Hut?"

"Yes!"

"Is wandering the desert..."

"No!"

I'll stick up for them. Banjo-Kazooie and Tooie are LEAGUES better than Nuts and Bolts. They're classics of the hey-day of 3D platformers and shine with the best of them.

used to be a projectionist at a movie theater. I started out working with 35mm, then some 35mm and some digital, and it eventually became all digital. movies come on usb hard drives and are about 300-500gb in proprietary file formats. idk about jeff's work as a delivery guy because we always just got from ups and fedex. projectors ran custom OSes and were networked to a central library pc running windows xp and a specialized application for ftp and organization.... although this was a really, lets say 'low-end' theater so the network was usually down so I usually had to plug the usb hard drives into each projector individually and ingest them that way which took forever. I think it was actually usb 1.0 ports on those fuckers.

we got flash drives every thursday night with decryption codes for the movies that had to be ingested into each projector. I presume that if our network wasn't busted and we had an outside internet connection it would have been done online but I'm not sure.

35mm was a lot more fun than digital. I actually held in my hands a film print of Grown Ups 2, and probably cut out a lot of frames where the projector jammed up and melted it.
