@corvidus: Sure, but my comment was about the games content, not whether it's fun or not.
Clearly Jeff doesn't find it fun, but other people do.

@drew Digital Foundry was a blog before it got picked up by Eurogamer in the first half of the 360 PS3 generation. It was a quiet corner of Eurogamer for ages but seems to have exploded in popularity over the past year or two once they started doing YouTube commentary.

@frytup: it annoys me when I'm going to a movie with a group of friends though. Most of us get our tickets online early and then we never get seated together because people don't get their tickets at the same time.

$50 for a haircut? WTF, lol. I don't think I've ever paid more than $20.

Also, surprised that Drew hasn't heard of Digital Foundry before. I feel like they've been talked about consistently since earlier into last generation.

Sort of like Jeff, I've had $10 sitting on my iTunes account from some gift card years ago. I don't buy music, and I typically have next to no interest in mobile games, so I have nothing to spend it on. Figured I'd get Super Mario Run when it came out, but... it just doesn't appeal to me at all. I don't mind the coin collecting, but not being able to turn around when you miss one by inches is infuriating to me. Having to replay the entire level because of one small mishap like that is not enjoyable at all.

I remember Rorie talking about it before, and I still don't quite get why he has such a problem with Fallout 4's UI on PC. Yes, it is not optimal for a kb/m setup. But it's perfectly serviceable. I have 350 hours played on PC, never with a gamepad, and I don't have that much of an issue with it. Also, mods are not as complicated as he made them out to be. To get UI mods you typically have to launch the game via a script extender, but that's about the only weird thing you have to do.

Probably depends on where you live, I have to imagine that general cost of living translates well to haircuts (more expensive in SF than in Kansas, to give one example). Here in Norway the Norwegian equivalent of $50 would be the standard price for a haircut (for a man), but then again everything is expensive as shit here.

Haven't really had a bad experience at a movie theater that I can remember though I reserve it for movies that need to be seen on an enormous screen and awesome sound system. Also going online and reading the whole plot of a movie is maybe one of the dumber ideas I've heard this year, and that's saying something.

@jasperkazai You can touch the Bubble button to rewind one screen manually if you miss a coin, it's like a suicide button, prevents you from having to restart the whole level if you miss a special coin.

Going to the movies is great except for all of the other people. The last movie I went to I thought the person across the isle from me was going to die, just constant labored breathing. The time before that the person behind me pooped themself. Maybe I should stop going before noon.

I've known of Digital Foundry for years, but my point was that they seem to be everywhere these days! They do great work (I've always thought of them as the gaming equivalent of DPReview), and it's super cool seeing them gain significantly more exposure recently. That they were a subset of Eurogamer was news to me, however.

I haven't been to a cinema in a while but I always go at least a couple of weeks after a film is released.

Seems to be the sweetspot to miss the diehard fans that will complain about everything and the people that go having no idea what the film is about.

I went to see the final Harry Potter film on the weekend of releae with my then girlfriend and it's a mistake I'll never make again.

@klager: Wow, I thought I had the harshest opinion of Rogue One... but you took the crown!

I didn't think it was "don't watch it" bad, but there are no characters with a shred of depth. They were poised to give us this awesome espionage story with badass rowdy rebels, but the protagonists are just brutally un-engaging and personality-free. I'm really wondering if I saw the same movie everyone's raving about.

@williamflattener: Completely agree with you on the characters. K-2SO's literal and deadpan humor is cheap, but can be very fun if sprinkled correctly. But Disney already did that, with Drax from Guardians of the Galaxy.

In my opinion it was only "don't watch it" bad because it brought nothing new to the table, and in my opinion did more to harm A New Hope/my "head-canon" of how the rebel spies obtained the plans to the Death Star. I was definitely picturing actual espionage and intelligence gathering, not the flat and depressing stuff from Rogue One.

Apropos the non-existent characters, it had zero impact when they all died. The pilot that defected got a grenade in the hull and blew up, then less than 5 minutes later, blind stick-man and machine blaster man also blow up. I honestly found it comical how fast it happened and was brushed under the rug, almost like they knew we didn't give a shit about the characters. It says a lot when the character death that had the most impact was a literal, in both meanings of the word, robot.

@klager: 100% agree. While it was a fun exercise in connecting the dots, I saw no actual reason to be so literal in setting up the events of Episode IV. Some things just don't require an explanation... or at least, not one that begs all these other questions. (Why did Saw choose to simply poof out of the plot? Why was there no character development for Jyn or Cassian? Why are all the scenes from the trailer NOT IN THE MOVIE? What was the tentacle monster and why is it in this film? Good gravy.)

How cool would a tense, Bothan-filled spy movie have been? James Bond in a Star Wars setting? Oh well. It's a mediocre but visually stunning entry. On to the next one, I guess!

The hate for Super Mario Run is a bit annoying, because it's a really damn good game. I don't know anyone outside of GB that thinks it sucks. It's well worth $10, and they've already added a new feature to it. I'm extremely happy it's not F2P.

Going off of Jason's ghost story, I don't believe in ghosts, but all it takes is one creepy incident to completely fuck you. I attended USF, and the ED building, which comes before Lone Mountain and the dip down to Balboa, where the 31 arrives on Turk and Arguello, has some weird shit going on in it... There are rumors of a little girl who died inside, and when you walk by at night, you can see her in the windows... I know what I saw wasn't real, but after a second weird situation, I kind of hate the idea of that building now... And one more... A year before the ghost girl incident, I was in the cafeteria, and this older guy came and sat down with my friend and I. He told us a story about a bunch of bodies that had been buried under USF's library and how he was there when they laid the cement over the corpses... A news report confirmed everything he said around a year later. The guy was essentially a real world Italian gangster cliche, but one who worked construction for the mob bosses. I never really grapple with the idea of ghosts being real, 'cause I just don't believe in the supernatural, but there's something very, very fucked about USF and its surrounding area. One person was split in half a year before I got there in a bad car accident, another person was stabbed to death outside the computer lab I spent countless nights writing essays in around an hour before I finished one night, a guy I personally respected beyond belief died a year later, I was robbed four times, my roommate was car jacked, twice, I was nearly beaten to death in front of the blood drive across the street from the ED building a week after seeing that little girl in the fucking window... I mean, Bill Cosby gave the commencement speech for the graduates the year after I left. Okay, the last one isn't really part of the "USF curse", but it's still bad... To conclude, I met and ran with the full gamut of sleaze bags San Francisco has to offer, from wealthy business owners, lawyers, club owners, professors, tech geeks, gamers, lovers, fighters, surfers, hipsters, stoners etc., but they were all good people... The second you step foot on USF campus, you'll either be robbed or murdered... The very first week I got there, one of the guys from my floor was killed, and since I stayed in with a different group, I didn't have to see it happen... The first time I was robbed was the next morning, where I woke up with three guys wearing ski masks taking my shit. I just closed my eyes and held my breath for ten minutes until they left... I swear, I felt more comfortable walking through the Tenderloin with my friends, than I did attending class... Especially at night in Lone Mountain, which is basically Hogwarts, but without magic, or lights when you need them... Everyone, steer clear of that fucking place unless you have a thing for tragedy and optical illusions strong enough to mind-fuck you.

Another comment... GOTHAM CITY SIRENS, the new WB movie centering on Harley, Ivy and Catwoman is from David Ayer, the same guy who handled SUICIDE SQUAD. He made his name off of TRAINING DAY, but the thing most people don't realize is that Ayer gets credit for the script, but really, Fuqua rewrote Ayer's original draft and just let Ayer get full credit for the final screenplay... That's why nothing Ayer has done outside of TRAINING DAY has been that great. END OF WATCH and FURY are both solid, but those came years after TD, and still were nowhere near as engaging. He came out after SUICIDE SQUAD's terrible reception saying he only had two weeks to write the script for SS... Yeah, my ass... So, don't expect any better from GOTHAM CITY SIRENS.

Kevin Tsujihara, WB's head, clearly has no clue how to run a good business and that entire studio is just ego and hot messes now. Literally anyone who works with WB is essentially someone who's comfortable enough to not write a script and just play it by ear, which is why any hit they get, like FURY ROAD, is a total surprise and not something they could tangibly recognize the quality of before hand. If it wasn't for how FURY ROAD rocked Cannes in 2015 before being released, WB wouldn't have known what they had on their hands... I mean, look at LIVE BY NIGHT, Affleck's new film. That film was destroyed by Affleck and WB's unchecked ego and lack of discipline.

Afflek is Tsujihara's new golden boy, and that places him right along side Zack Snyder and David Ayer in the hierarchy of hot-messes running things, but to a varying degree... The very fucking fact that WB heads were furious at both early-studio-screenings of SUCKER PUNCH and BVS, but still let Snyder essentially run shit without pause, and without screenplays for most of WB's tentpole films in most scenarios, just goes to show how fucked they are... When you don't care about a god damn screenplay being locked before spending hundreds of millions of dollars, you're doing it all wrong. Reshoots are cool, and normal, but most of the time they're just "rewrites" that came way too late and never really fix anything... Thing is, Affleck is an insanely smart guy... It's a beautiful thing knowing Snyder was essentially emasculated in front of the entire JUSTICE LEAGUE crew this past summer when Affleck was given creative control over the film, while they were all filming, basically telling Snyder to sit the fuck down and just handle the visuals. If it weren't for Affleck, who I still think can fuck up in huge ways, because he's a pretty guy and doesn't know how to keep his vanity from screwing his films, WB wouldn't have a chance moving forward in regards to achieving some type of consistent quality for their projects. I think Affleck will change that studio from the inside out... Better late than never.

Modding Fallout 4 takes some effort but it's worth it for the inventory sorting mods.

I recommend DEF_UI and Better Item Sorting mods.

Hopefully we see something like Fallout Wanderer's Edition mod soon for Fallout 4.

Man sometimes I feel like I am the only one who still enjoys the going to the theatre experience. There is just something about going to the movies with friends and seeing an new movie for the first time that is just great. Then when you leave and yall are all talking about how good/bad the movie was. Also it kinda helps that for me to buy a ticket it is $8.00 dollars for a matinee and 9:00 for a student ticket after 6PM here in Tuscaloosa
