At first I was with them about it being a toss up between the DS and GBA, but then I talked to a friend about it and realized that most of the games I like on those platforms have sequels or remakes that are as good if not better on the 3DS, so I think the 3DS might be my answer. For me personally, WarioWare is the biggest omission in the 3DS library.

Of course, the second or third time around, most of those games lack novelty value, but when it comes to evaluating the console's library, that's less important to me as compared to the actual quality of/affection for/whatever of the games on their own.

It all comes down to what games you prefer, of course, but for the games I like, the 3DS has a solid-ass library.

Unless, of course, we count backwards compatibility/virtual console/hacking, in which case the 3DS can play all of those games (except the handful that need link cable/GBA slot stuff/extra hardware), so it becomes the no-brainer answer.

Interesting to hear the praise for the character specific storyline stuff in Wolfenstein : TNO.

I played that game a few weeks ago and thought it was going to be a big deal. Especially since the game tells you that you're playing ' .... 's timeline' afterwards and throughout the game from then on. Chose for the young guy, and apart from 1 or 2 mentions of my choice during the game, it didn't feel like the game really cared about me choosing for him. He wasn't even a main NPC within your crew. Caroline,Anya Klaus & Max all were more important to the story. A bit underwhelming.

I saw Artosis stream some broodwar with a Tobii eyetracker. It kinda looks like there's water moving around on the screen. It seemed fairly adjustable in regards to size, colour and transparancy of the visual effect and doesn't appear laggy at all. That said, even his audience was kinda done with it after a game. I can see it mostly being interesting if you're trying to become good at a game and changing your habits, while checking feedback through the eyetracker. But that's going to be a fairly niche audience.

I remember seeing an episode of that Adult Swim stream when they had some big weekly marathon thing going. It was good backup noise, i enjoyed it.

I'm glad South Park still makes politically incorrect content. I'm sick of everything having to tiptoe around jokes because someone might get offended. They make fun of everyone.

I will say the last couple seasons just weren't that funny, though. I also wasn't very interested in the new game, but every time I've seen any game play I giggled and it actually looks pretty fun. Think I may get it when it's a bit cheaper. Soooo much other to play right now.

The idea that PUBG could ever be considered GOTY over amazing games like Nier, Horizon, Persona, Zelda, Yakuza, Cuphead, and soon Mario makes me shake my head. I don't care how many people are playing it, that shit is the same as any other buggy battle royale game.

Duuuuuude. I played the DLC first (which I really didn't like), and the intro to Wolfenstein The New Order is definitely a bit slow (but was immediately more engaging than the DLC), but the moment you get to the 60s stuff it becomes so much more interesting in practically every way.

I was thinking of not even bothering with it after slogging through the DLC (sorry, I'm really raggin on that thing), but thank goodness I did cause that main game is phenomenal. One of the best FPS campaigns I've played (like, top 5, maybe even top 3).

Good to see Will! Ben chiming in on that VR play-the-game-for-money story got a good laugh outta me. Perfect.

@theht: I loved the Old Blood (was that the name of it?) as much as the main game. I liked it so much because I thought the weapons and enemies and just general game play were better. I can see how it could be off putting to someone that was looking for the cool setting and story of the original game, though. Both have their merits imo.

Yeah that was it. The big draw for me was the pulpy alternate timeline stuff (I only got them after seeing the "trailer" for The New Colossus, and then looking back on all the praise it got in personal GotY lists featured here), and I figured I'd get the DLC out of the way since it was set in WW2, but I was super not havin any of it.

It's funny, I remember in The New Order being so hype/relieved the moment you get your hands on the more modern weaponry. Different strokes I guess!

I have also done the PS4 controller thing. While home for a holiday, my sister asked to borrow my PS4 controller so she could could play multiplayer on her PS4 with her boyfriend. Afterwards, she gave it back having turned the PS4 and controller off. Problem is, she hadn't gone into setting to un-pair it. I wired the controller into my laptop and played the entirety of undertale... all while it had (via bluetooth) turned on her PS4, sent a bunch of garbled messages to friends, and bought Until Dawn from the front page of the Playstation store. In the end, she kept it because she wanted to play it anyway, but I felt terrible about it.

The "everyone's dumb but me lol" viewpoint loses its appeal once you leave middle school.

Another "thank you" here for the thoughtful discussion of recent allegations. Jeff's comments about NeoGAF's maintainer failing in his responsibility to that community (as well as in other matters) were spot-on.

Twitter showing what people you follow like is the worst. It has occasionally turned me on to new accounts to follow, but most of it is annoying - I've actually had to mute a couple accounts that some of my follows like all the time. Also for me it has a chilling effect where I don't want my friends to see the dumbass jokes and political tweets that entertain me, so I don't like stuff very often.

Once you get older, you gain an awareness that the issues that you once declaimed as stoopid aren't weird stuff grownups invoke just to yell about but actually affect real people. They can even affect...YOU.

@nickfoley: Really?? Multiple times where the camera is stuck on the person who isn't speaking (at one point he left it on Jeff for about 3 minutes as Will and Brad were talking), at times not remembering to switch over to the Jason-cam's when he's speaking, and that same camera's light level being almost completely darkened out... Not trying to bag on the guy, as I'm sure being thrown into that job is an easy learning curve, but congratulating him on his work in this stream without acknowledging some major issues is little myopic.

@indigozeal: By the same token when you get older you will realise that what a cartoon choices to satire on a particular week is not going to undo all the good that is done in the world. So when they do mock something that is personal to me I see it as a natural element of the discourse of free speech in entertainment and find my medicine elsewhere.

@indigozeal: Not always. A lot of times, in my experience, once people get older and accrue responsibilities they have less time to worry about "issues" that don't directly affect them. Thus, they end up declaring something "stoopid" that they used to have firmly held beliefs about. It's not through any conscious decision to not care about anything, but rather a selective process of picking and choosing what is and isn't worth caring about. For myself, if I still cared deeply about half of the stuff I did when I was in my early 20s I wouldn't be able to find enough time to take care of my actual responsibilities (work, family, house). So, for me, the decision is fairly easy; should I let a comedy cartoon that's been making fun of everyone for years offend me, or should I clean the gutters on my house before winter? Should I give a crap about some monuments of generals on the losing side of a war, or should I make sure that the shopping is done so my family can eat? I'd say for any actual adult, the answer is obvious.

@robert_baker: I see where you're coming from, but I would argue that "giving a crap about monuments to the losing generals in a long-ago war" does not interfere with your ability to clean your gutters in the slightest. In fact, you can clean your gutters and give-a-crap simultaneously. ;)

It's fine for South Park to "make fun of all sides", but at the same time, making fun of *that* kind of issue smacks of "It Doesn't Personally Affect Trey Parker and Matt Stone, and they Can't POSSIBLY Imagine How it Might Personally Affect People who Aren't Trey and Matt".

It's good that we're able to freely expresses satire on all issues (no matter how much our current US government is trying to end that :b ), but one has to accept that one can also be freely criticized for freely expressing satire on all issues.

@indigozeal: Being older isn't some instant licence to maturity and self awareness, and using your age as some sort of indication of anything other than how many times you participated in revolving around the sun is just a cop out for thinking your opinions matter more than someone else's. Everything affects other people, every issue, every pickle on a hamburger pisses somebody off.

@dasakamov: No, actually. If you're on a ladder 30 feet in the air, you should be solely focused on what you're doing.

But seriously, the "monuments to generals" thing was an example of an "issue" that doesn't directly affect me and I don't have time for as opposed to issues that do (healthcare, censorship). My point was that as you get older and have people depending on you, some of the things that you used to have strongly held beliefs about tend to not mean as much.

As far as South Park goes, people are more than welcome to criticize it, but I'd argue that it doesn't only effect Trey and Matt, when there are quite a few people that work on that show.

But the cartoon's idea that doing good in the world is stupid is why people have grown out of it, you see. Once you have responsibilities in your life, you realize that just standing by and laughing at problems instead of trying to solve them leads to things going to hell sooner or later. We have any number of object lessons to that effect in today's world, be it the various political & humanitarian crises or @robert_baker's non-self-cleaning gutters.

(Also ETA to Rob: You're saying that if you feel you don't have the time to address a given issue, no one should, even if they have the knowledge & resources? That's inefficient! I mean, I don't have the gutter-cleaning expertise you do; I don't have gutters on my home. Should I go, "Hey, Robert, knock it off with your dumb gutter-cleaning! We non-gutter-havers don't care about that nonsense! Why are you spending all that time on your gutters when I don't have them? That's stupid! You're stupid! Gutters are stupid! Everyone should just stop cleaning gutters and be like me"?)

@jeff Regarding toys to life games, don't forget: Ubisoft's Starlink (the spaceship one).

Unfortunately, I'd give it like a 50% chance that that Ubisoft cans it before release based on where the market is right now. I'm looking forward to it. Can't bring myself to buy little cartoon action figures as a man in his 30s, yet I'd have no issue buying little spaceships. Completely irrational I know, but it is what it is.

@indigozeal: But that's not true at all. Not to put words in the creator's mouths, but they don't satirize caring or wanting to make something better, they satirize some of the methods that people choose to employ. For example, the episode about hybrid vehicles in which the vehicles themselves were shown to be a good step forward, but the smugness of their owners was parodied.

Let's put it this way: Judging even just from the arguments fans are making in this thread, that's not the message they're taking away from the show.

@indigozeal: It is meant to show that caring about everything is futile because people are upset by the most trivial things. Like a cartoon for instance.

Yeah, some people get really worked up when you say you don't care for one. Funny, that.

(You didn't take the bait about having a sweet vs. dill pickle discussion? Really?)
