Id say some of the dbz fighting games are good, but maybe not good as pure fighting games. Budokai Tenkaichi 3 for instance isn't a good *technical* fighting game but as a game based around how dragonball moves and looks and feels, its fantastic

I do agree a little bit about their complaints about the training area in Monster Hunter, but for different reasons. My problem is that the move prompts that are shown don't actually show the full extent of the given weapon. Speaking on the Charge Blade specifically there is way more to that weapon than what is described in the training area or in the Hunter's Guide which is frustrating. I had to watch a YouTube video on how the weapon works to see the full extent of it.

The Xenoblade 2 special edition pro controller's d-pad is very slightly improved but it's still bad. It's totally unusable in Tetris or precision platformers. I had to resort to buying a wireless adapter that lets me use a Dual Shock 4 on my Switch just to get a usable gamepad, meaning I've spent over $150 to get what would've been a simple $60 gamepad purchase on any other platform. It's a ridiculous situation. The included controller dock thing is out of the question as I have Vinny-sized hands.

Really? That's hilarious. Here in Canada, "Invest in Aurora*" has basically become a giant meme. If you tell someone you're investing in weed stocks, you'll get laughed out of the country because that ship sailed long ago. I think you'd actually get more respect if you spent that money on CRYCASH.

*Recent-ish weed company that's working closely with the Federal government on legalization efforts, they're on track to have the biggest single production facility in North America

Can't help but laugh at Brad hating on the training area in MHW just 'cause he didn't think to attack the huge column.

@polysorbate42: you might have wanted the 25 bucks pokken controller, great dpad. Just gotta be mindfull that it doesn't have as many buttons as a normal controller so its not usable for every game (only has a dpad and 6 face buttons, a, b, x, y, l and r. thats it. ). And it doesn't have a home button either which kinda sucks. But for precision platforming/shmup-ing/fighting/tetris its the best. And it works on pc, wii u and ps3 too.

Sounds like you've got it solved now anyways but if you ever want a good 2nd controller with a decent dpad i'd definitely recommend that pokken thing.

Now if Jeff’s rating of how good a ninja is is based on how much shit they can do I think he needs to learn about a little ninja that could named Naruto.

Yeah basically you will still want to look things up online in Monster Hunter. That's a hurdle you'll have to accept if you want to enjoy the game and for some people like Brad and Jeff that's a pretty big hurdle. (For me it was too!)

But honestly, in hindsight I find that way less frustrating than for example the raids in WoW. You can't just go in and play a raid in WoW, but you have to study the raid on a website beforehand spoiling everything about the raid for you, or people will get real angry at you when you mess it up. In Monster Hunter you can try everything out and when you see something you don't understand you can look it up online if you want to. For me that is more rewarding.

I started to even enjoy the idea that I'm still learning something about Monster Hunter every day/week.

Dragon Ball Fighterz seems like a lot of fun but mostly only if you venture online where I'm sure everyone is already god tier. Also if I do pick it up still not sure if I should go PC or ps4 where it's probably guaranteed to have a steady player count.

I'm completely new to the Monster Hunter series and I thought the training area was fine, how do you miss the hunking big trunk to beat on? Jeez.

These curmudgeonly old guys get bored of the combat and quest structure when they are completing fine with repetitive tripe like the shooting and loading screens in Destiny?

It's so tiring to listening to their completely hot takes after obviously only playing for an hour or two and just dismissing so much about a game because so much just goes over their heads.

That thing @benpack mentioned about Mr. Satan owning an adult book and making Buu horny is probably from some game because that never happened on the tv show.

edit: just checked, it was from the Dragon Ball Online MMO, it took place after the events of Dragon Ball GT.

Last chance for bioware? maybe stop shivving it in the shower then EA. If it's got loot boxes I ain't buying it, then don't try and pin it's failure on me or others like me. Fuck EA.

God forbid they dump 50+ hours of their life into it before forming any opinion. And if you feel they're being unfair to this game now, heh, I suggest you watch old MH quick looks especially Tri and see how far they've come in their opinions. :) They're definitely more positive and receptive to this one.

I’m getting tired of politics creeping into the show. Love the show, hate the politics.

GPU prices are definitely nuts in the UK. I just unloaded a GTX 1070 I no longer needed, and even thought it was about 18 months old and only cost £300 new, it sold for over £400. Definitely glad I'm not in the buying market.

Probably too late to bother changing it at this point - it could break anything that has cached the URL.

Are you new here lol. People come here for their hot takes since they are too busy to play the entirety of a game and have a limited window where they can remark on a game. Thats why games like witcher 3 for example, which are +50 hours get quick takes since they can only play so much. Shorter stuff like 8 hours will be better for their take since review critics can finish them and give a overall opinion.

Most fans have explained that this isnt a site for top notch or extremely somewhat unbaised takes on games. They are personality driven. Jeff doesnt like certain games so no matter how good a genra is he likely will bounce off it. If you enjoy their personalities then you just come to hear how their "curmudgeon old guy" personalities take to new stuff. I think of it like why people like to watch adults react on youtube. You wanna see someone react to something they have no original interest in.

Im not a die hard fan so i will give my take and meet you half way and not just dismiss everything you said. I see where your coming from. Jeff and crew arent 20 somethings with a wide eye look to any new game. Yes they do seem to point out ever negative they had along with their positives. It can seem like they dont like a thing cause their negatives come off so strong. But i learned to take it with a grain of salt. Jeff will mention for example not enjoying the new zelda but his reasons arent complete hatred for the game. I equate it to him saying something is bad as it was kinda bothering me while i played but its ok...could be better. Thus i will take it that it wont really bother me and still buy it. Hope that helps.

I get what your saying but i wouldnt want to spew out things about some movie or game or something and completely miss the point for years while im in a echo chamber of no one correcting me and just saying im right since its my opinion. Its ok to be challenged. For example ive heard how much some people hated the movie MOTHER and thought it was stupid and had no meaning and critics were dumb for giving it ok scores. Or another friend who though Interstellar was trash and made no sense till being explained some of the science they were trying to do or what happen.

Sometimes explaining the meaning or some other perspective can get someone to reconsidering their take. Im not saying you should force someone to change their mind but some fans may just really want him to get a full take on something they enjoy before he dismisses it.

Thing about Microsoft I never understood, is how they failed to capitilise on PC, I mean they are basically THE PC PLATFORM (arguments for Linux, and steam OS aside). If you want to play PC games you need windows.

Sure they have had stores and portal to games through the years, but why have they never stuck the landing, I mean they should be dominating that space, right?

I look at the XBOX app on PC pretty frequently (despite not having an xbox in use any more) and and I keep thinking that is future of Microsoft in games, that is the space they need to be developing, you combine that with remote hardware leasing, see Nvidia's Geforce Now, and you got yourself a stew!

Now, that said, I am extremely glad to have so many game platforms within windows, the competition and options abound have made it a very healthy ecosystem.

Is console hardware is going away? Well probably not until the US upgrades its third world internet, (a problem ironically we are having trouble rolling out in my own country which minuscule in comparison) but eventually games as service is probably the future for better or worse, so it's going to be interesting to see Microsoft's place in that future.

Confirmed Brad has an insatiable bloodlust when it comes to PvP. I guarantee he'd be the type to stalk me and sit on my corpse in WoW when I'm just trying to mind my own business. I love it.

Ah screw Vlambeer. The lack of support Nuclear Throne has had is unacceptable. Took 9 months to patch it once on PS4 without addressing any co-op problems, and last I checked the Vita is still not fixed. I sincerely doubt it could be made for Switch which would be a slam dunk if the studio was capable. For a site that trumpets the 'games as service' future we're living in you guys shouldn't be going to bat for an indie dev who are very much NOT about that future. I only talk so much mess because I think Nuclear Throne is a brilliant game, that has been in an constant state of disrepair on various platforms and it's not fair to the people who spent money on it. I'd love for those dudes to pitch and design games for bigger studios or publishers who can actually provide some level of quality control because Vlambeer as a brand is downright poisonous in my eyes. Any game they make from here on I would not support and would encourage others do the same.

I think the complaints from Jeff about the armor in MH just being "numbers that go up" is pretty misguided, and I was pretty baffled that Jason didn't correct him on this, seeing as he has seemingly played a lot of MH. The entire point of armor is the skills attached to them, which do alter gameplay and change playstyle. Some skills go well with some weapons, some don't. Evade Extender on Heavy Bowgun for example, is a huge game changer.

You ever listen to the Bombcast before? This is the same podcast that used to riff on "our current economic situation" "oh you mean the the economic downturn?" "oh you mean the economy?" so constantly they made gags out of their own gags? That show? People need to stop with this revisionist idea that the Bombcast never mentioned politics at all. They've always talked about it at about the same level that they are now, which is amazingly dialed back considering how much everyone ELSE is talking about politics right now.

But why cant you lock on to it?! Thats insane, the ONE thing you're actually supposed to attack in the training area is the only goddamn thing you cant lock on to. And it looks like a non interactive piece of the environment on top of that. Its just baffling.The first thing I wanted to do in the training area was attack that column but as it didnt even lock on I totally assumed you couldnt attack that thing.

Only after a few session in the training area did I decide to try that big column; "no way thats it right, it doesnt even lock on...", [I attacked the thing, numbers popped up], "no fucking way....."

Agreed. Their "takes" on this world we now live in are so short and tame compared to literally anything. If a person is truly so triggered by the mention of almost anything, then maybe they should add GB to the boycott list that includes Star Wars, coffee, football, Apple, and Busch beer.

I am enjoying the DBZ talk, and I hope that Jeff and Dan churn out some content related to it. Dan certainly hinted at something like that in the beastcast today.
