@jeff It's not very clear, but you have to choose the 'Classic' versions of the Williams tables in Pinball FX3 for the reworked, more realistic arcade setup and physics. The default is the modern Zen-style physics of their fantasy tables. More info here.

They definitely need to add some descriptions explaining what the differences are within the actual game interface, though.

The Classic Arcade mode setup also defaults the 'remastered' elements off, but you can toggle those on and off on the fly with the B button in either physics setup.

They've already put some real work into the physics in the beta. Some proclaim it already far better than TPA ever was, but that sort of thing is always hard for me to judge. Fish Tales definitely feels a whole lot better in the Classic Arcade setup, check it out.

hmmm, I much prefer the style of Pokemon Go Pikachu/Eevee with HMs. the design of HMs in Pokemon games is one of the things holding the series back IMO. HMs should be a power you unlock like a Metroid game. Instead you have to drag around a "HM slave" all of the time to use surf, fly, cut, strength, etc. and it's a huge bummer because most of those actual moves (besides surf & fly) are awful. Them moving away from that is only a good thing.

also it would suck if you could not evolve them though.....

Brad plays Destiny 2, where he is level 500, instead of playing new releases or finishing games that were released earlier in the year. Nice going!

I can attest that the Classic versions of the Willams tables in the PFX3 beta feel *great*! The physics are night and day compared to their standard floaty physics, and I would say I like their classic physics better than FarSight’s. I’ve been going back and forth between the two (PFX3 and TPA) plus playing Medival Madness and High Speed 2 irl and I think that Zen’s truer to reality at this point. I haven’t even bothered with the remastered versions of te tables yet.

Also, I think Zen is based out of Budapest, Hungary.

Unless you're a serious Splatoon player, that Nintendo online service is a joke. I don't see myself doing it any time soon, but I don't knock people for hacking their systems. That selection of NES games is pretty weak.

I CAN'T MOVE! Thankyou.... Wondaman. OK GO! With all the talk of beat-em-ups lately I looked up Jeff's review of Final Fight: Streetwise out of curiosity. Literally the first line is: "The beat-'em-up is dead." Can't help but wonder if in retrospect Jeff was projecting that he wanted the genre to die so he didn't have to review any more of them. I'm kind of glad they didn't die as we ended up with stuff like God Hand and Yakuza before character action came along and iterated with their 'fast, responsive combat controls', pfffffffft whatever (actually love character action games). Never played Urban Reign or The Bouncer but those sounded decent from what I remember hearing. Jeff should really play more Yakuza 0 as that to me is the evolved form of River City Ransom in all the right ways. Plus it's set in '88, the year after RCR was released. Thanks as always for the podcast.

If you guys are on the fence re: doing the Destiny 2 raid, why not check out the previous two you've missed and see how you feel about it afterwards? You'll be able to read up on the entire fights as well as be over-powered for them so they shouldn't be too difficult.

Call of Duty hasn't been an innovator of FPS games since Modern Warfare, my dudes. Everything they've ever added since then has been stuff people had been playing for up to a decade before hand in other games.

@dan_citi: That's exactly how HMs worked in sun and moon. Once you reached certain points in the story you were given ride pokemon which had the same function as an HM, didn't take up a slot in your party and you could pull them out at any time.

Sorry guys, but you're completely wrong about cheese curds. They entered my life when I moved to Wisconsin from the bay area for school and fresh cheese curds are incredible. They're also not just "cheese shaped into balls". They are just the pure curd after the whey has been separated, where as typical cheese, like cheddar, has more work done to it.

Eating a fresh, squeaky cheese curd is truly an amazing experience and trust me, BWW fried cheese curds are trash. If you're ever in Wisconsin, go to any bar/restaurant and you'll be able to find much better ones. Don't hate on the curds.

The only cloud save function Nintendo previously had was "Pokemon Bank", a 3DS app that lets you store Pokemon in the cloud, doesn't delete anything if you're yearly subscription runs out. Just locks you from getting at it.

I'm guessing that thing is just run by the Pokemon Company though.

The reason why Animal Crossing isn't a non-announcement is that a lot of people, including me, got screwed over by the WiiU, which did not get an Animal Crossing before it was summarily executed. I have refused to get a Switch until I saw Animal Crossing confirmation. Now we have it and I feel like I can safely invest in that console. Yes, it is a system seller.

Frozen Synapse is more or less completely deterministic, there are no dice rolls or hit percentages. Every unit has a set "minimum time to kill" when it sees another unit and several factors including A. Distance B. How fast they were moving before the started shooting, C. is the target in cover. increase the amount of time it takes to shoot and kill them.

Of course nothing in game really ever tells you this or gives exacts on these values.

jeff's final take on 'bad pizza' is exactly my take when I get into this discussion with friends- if you have good pizza all the time, yup i get it, but if you are me and don't, whatever, gimme a bad pizza and I'll be done with it before I get analytical about my pizza score decisions.

pizza can be very expensive in a non-coastal city as weird as that is...and even our non chain pizza is garbage, unless you wanna go the chicago route, which, sure, but that's not the pizza man's pizza. That's a chicago man's pizza, and I don't live in chicago. It's like BBQ stylings between Kansas City and Dallas. Important stuff people, we need to make good pizza available to all for the greater good, cheaper, such that we lowly pizza plebs don't have to settle for F tier-pizza. Rise up.

Yeah, I'm surprised Brad is pushing Destiny 2 so much considering this expansion is pretty much the same shit we have been getting for years. No, Forsaken didn't change Destiny 2, it's still the same Destiny.

There are fundamental problems in Destiny in Destiny 2 which have not been addressed and no amount of new content is gonna change that.

Food opinions:

Lobster mac & cheese: Lobster's a delicate taste, and cheese overwhelms it tastewise and texturally. As someone who's sampled a lot of lobster cuisine in Maine life: if you want lobster, just get one boiled. It only gets smothered by other flavors, making lobster combo dishes a waste of food and (often considerable) money. (Sole exception: lobster rolls.)

Pizza: Though there is such a thing as too much, people overlook grease as an essential part of the pizza experience. Most bad pizza I've had has been bad by being too sweet and not salty or greasy enough.

Rorie's popcorn recipe: Pretty good - it really adds some life to the popcorn. The popcorn's a good carb canvas for the sauce, too - it gives you more of the flavor and spreads out the heat and vinegar.

Hot sauces: Good for Brad saying that taste is more important than burning your mouth out. Trying to be edgy by getting into ~*extreme*~ hot sauce is just the most basic-ass shit - It's the Hot Topic of middle age. (One of the hosts of this comic podcast to which I listen is trying to be one of those guys, and it's just so painful every time he talks about it.)

Man... Jeff just said that there "sure isn't a lot to do" in the Dreaming City in Destiny - literally the biggest, most activity and secret-filled patrol zone the game has ever seen. There was also no mention of the fact that yet another new story mission appeared after the Tuesday reset, which shows that things are really leading up to something cool. I get that Jeff is a casual player, but man, he just continues to miss the major parts of what make the expansion so incredible so far. Forsaken is really for people who enjoy exploring beautiful areas, discovering secret chests and missions, figuring out public events, solving puzzles and riddles, stumbling into crazy Ascendant challenges, etc etc. If you're playing Destiny like you would play a CoD campaign, you're doing it wrong. Not saying you can't still enjoy Destiny in that way, but by doing so you're missing out on more than half of the content. Ah well.
