I was a bit bummed out for Jeff at the start because it looked like mr Snax just revealed some hot scoops and instead of getting questioned about his interesting revelations, people started to ask questions about completely different topics. That can feel a bit deflating i imagine. Luckily there were a handful of questions in the middle there that were prompted by his Kojima and Dead Space news.

@onemanarmyy: I think he's probably used to it. He does more or less the exact same style show for VentureBeat and that is fairly common there as well. That's just what happens when you open up the floodgates for 1000+ users to start asking questions about rumors, scoops, news, etc.

I was kinda hoping for more than yet another youtube-esque weekly breakdown. Disappointing. Along with the grim outlook for quick looks, I don't think I'll be renewing for the first time.

I really hope that the border and chat on the screen doesn't become a thing going forward for all (or any really) Giant Bomb videos. It just feels like the site is taking all of the bad things from twitch and making the site a worse viewing experience.

@shaggsmagoo: The chat has a very specific relevance to this video, so I wouldn't take its presence here as a sign of it being on screen for any other content. It's just Grubb talking to the camera, so there's not much else to do with that space in these videos anyway.

I love the deep dive analysis talk, like the commentary on companies looking to acquire right now due to upcoming inflation and policy shifts. More of this sort of stuff please! Great work!

Also, good to see this as a podcast show up on the Premium feed! One thing that would be cool given the straight shooting news content would be to keep the language clean for this show for those of us looking for a podcast to listen to with young children around learning how to speak. I would hope @jeff could understand :)

I'm so busy lately that I have to watch anything over 20 minutes in chucks over the week, but I did enjoy this 'Grubby' little segment. ;-)

My one concern is that some weeks there just won't be a whole lot to talk about, but I guess that that's what the "questions from the audience" format is for, huh? In any case, it should be nice to have a somewhat centralized space to hear about what's going on in the industry in a condensed amount of time.

Going in I wasn't sure how engaged I'd be with this but it's actually fantastic. I have a feeling I'll be watching this religiously like I do the bombcast.

The major issue with Sony Re:indies, at least as described by the follow up article that got published the day after that first one did, is that Sony's store is just really really lousy compared to basically every other option.

How many steps does it take to get a list of all the new games released in the last week or 2 on all the other platforms compared to Sony? How easy is it to find all the games currently on sale? How easy is it to find out what a game is, ratings for it and so on? How's the refund policy? How's the wish-list policy? How easy is it to find a specific game without typing its exact title into a search-bar? How easy is it to figure out what games you own? How easy is it to sort DLC and add-on junk and still have a full list of new games?

There in lies the issue. The discoverability of games is not just bad on the PSN store, it is in many ways simply nonexistent in some ways. A lot of developers reached out once that initial article/tweet thread write up was first put out to essentially say "Yah, none of the stores are perfect but the PSN store is especially/egregiously bad.

I get Jeff's take in general, he would be right if Sony were not so massively behind every other storefront in terms of just basic consumer convenience. Sony needs to do more, and it's not some anti-Sony conspiracy to say so.

Very well done. Really excited about this new direction for GB overall.

I'll give this a shot, but I'm guessing that this show won't be for me since I don't care about rumor shit and am happier not diving deep into all of these leaks and insider stuff. I think my limited podcast would be better spent on the shows I already listen to.

Really enjoyed this show, as well as Jeff Grubb in general! Also happy to hear it will be available in audio form going forward... I always have more time for podcasts then I do video content, so that's great.

@geirr: The difference is that on the bombcast, the guys check the news that's out there and basically relay the same information that's already out there and then talk among eachother what this means.

With this show, Jeff Grubb is able to talk about breaking news that he has dug up himself and have a two-way conversation with the community about what this means and why it makes sense for these companies to behave in the way they do.

The bombcast is a fairly shallow ocean of news, while grubb is able to dive down into a specific underwater cave with the audience. But i do think that this show depends heavily on the amount of information Jeff knows on a certain subject and what the quality of the audience questions are.

✅Very knowledgeable about games & the industry

✅Personable and good on camera

The only thing missing is interaction with some of the GB friends or staff.

I didn't catch all of the previous Bombcast, but I hope Jeff Grubb will be a regular guest.

Liking the show, Jeff is clearly very excited about it, and it shows. I think in terms of delivery, it could use a bit more structure, and perhaps slow down a bit. I think the main thing with a game news and rumor type show, is that you want to be concise and deliberate, rather than forcing everything out as fast as possible. A second host to bounce off can be very useful in that sense, turning it into a more natural conversation, rather than a monologue.

Will definitely keep poking in for some grubbsnax every now and then. ;)

This was cool

The one small detail that was a bit annoying was the questions kept scrolling up when new ones were sent and Grubb constantly had to scroll down to find the next one. I wonder if there is a way to keep them in place. Its a small thing but even Grubb seemed annoyed by it. If they can fix that the show will be perfect.
