It just seems kind of pointless to argue over which would "win" when it's totally unclear what the conditions are.

That's like, half the fun to me, and why the debate has raged for so long, I think. It's just a funny, stupid conversation to have where it turns out people have strong opinions and beliefs they probably didn't even think they held.

It's bat, btw

I'm loving this show, but I wish the production was better. Watching Jeff have to constantly scroll to keep the question from sliding out of the frame is kind of sad.

I don't completely disagree, though on the other hand, him chasing the runaway questions just adds to the freneticism of the whole show.

I'm not sure there's a better solution either way. Screening questions ahead of time, limiting the quantity of questions or having someone else screen and feed the questions are all solutions that take something away from the core mood of the show. Grubbsnax feels like the audio version of a super-sized rumors section of an old gaming magazine, and I kinda love it for that.

It would be slightly more fun as a dialog rather than a monolog, but solid effort nevertheless.

2 episodes in and I think GrubbSnax has a lot of potential but I think Grubb needs to work on the pacing of the show or they should add a second host to create more of a natural conversational tempo. Grubb is talking so fast that he's getting out of breath in between sentences and answers. That's a bit too stressful for my liking. I'm spending more time focusing on his delivery than the points he's making.

I guess I'm just getting old but Grubb is talking too damn fast "shakes fist".

I don't get stressed out by it, nor find it particularly difficult to follow, but the show as is does have a sort of Mad Money vibe to it, and since I'm not familiar with Jeff Grubb prior to this show I do sometimes find myself wonder why I'm listening to the wild ramblings of some stranger on the internet. The legacy of Giant Bomb is doing a lot of the work for me in caring about this show so far, because without that upfront branding I really don't know what separates GrubbSnax from doom scrolling through r/games for an hour.

He speaks with the sort of confidence that implies he's in-the-know, and I saw his name all over the news after last week's episode, but I can't always get past this nagging feeling that he's just a confident talker with a good voice and that makes him seem more in the loop than he actually is. I certainly look forward to forgetting I once felt that way, but I've got no idea what it'll take for me to get there.

Edit: Coming back with an example so I don't sound like a total asshole. While talking about Platinum and Bayonetta 3 around 36 minutes in: "I think that Platinum is just very busy and has a little bit more leeway on Bayonetta 3...you would imagine Nintendo would be a pretyt tough taskmaster...this is hearsay, something I've heard, the way the deal is structured, Platinum does have more leeway on Bayonetta 3"

It's a structure that has come up more than once in multiple episodes, where at first he sounds like he's purely speculating before coming back around and presenting that prior speculation as sourced facts. It doesn't help when he's constantly saying "I don't know" or "I'm just guessing here" throughout the episode(s). Or takes a question like "Chrono Trigger remake?" and he responds to the question like he's giving an answer when he's not actually saying anything beyond an obtuse "it sure would make sense, wouldn't it?"

Again, I like the show but after two episodes it's entertainment value comes more from how unhinged and spurious Grubb is, he can make an hour and change fly by. But I'm not sure I'm getting any real information from this show.

I think this show is a bit too politically agnostic for my liking. Fair play for criticising Nintendo for shady hardware practices but when you can talk about Ubisoft without mentioning their harboring of rapists and sexual harassers it makes me question the whole value of this type games coverage. I know GB tries to just have fun and not mention the "bad stuff" a lot of the time but this style just isn't for me anymore. Good luck with your show though, I'm sure lots of people find it very informative.

Thank god for James Stephanie Sterling and Waypoint I guess.
