@ben It would be a safety. A safety is when: The ball carrier is tackled or forced out of bounds in his own end zone. In this case the interception would have the ball carrier in his own end zone and he would then be tackled.

That said I don't know if blitz honors these rules. I do remember something specific about it being behind the line of scrimmage in blitz which means specifically on an interception you wouldn't result in a safety but instead a touch back.

Then there is the whole 1 point safety that happens only when PAT's fail. 100% sure that blitz doesn't have those rules.

I knew what was gonna happen with Ben there at the start, but I still giggled like crazy when it happened (without spoiling things of course lol) Great fun so far guys!

@mjbrune: it's a touchback. The opposing team (the team that threw the ball that got intercepted) caused the ball the go behind the intercepting team's goal line. As long as the ball doesn't recross the goal line, if the ball goes dead while still in the possession of the intercepting team, it will be a touchback. If the intercepting player crosses the goal line and doubles back into the endzone on their own volition only to get tackled in the endzone, then it would be a safety, because it would now be their own actions that caused the ball to cross their goal line.

This got me good already 5 seconds in. Alex and Ben are just perfect.

Dan got so excited when he scored first...poor Dan didn't stand a chance after that. Great video! Would love to see more fake sports broadcasts over the crew playing sports games. Alex and Ben's commentary was perfect for this feature.

"The important factor in a safety is impetus. Two points are scored for the opposing team when the ball is dead on or behind a team’s own goal line if the impetus came from a player on that team."

Examples of Non-Safety:

(a) Player intercepts a pass with both feet inbounds in the field of play and his momentum carries him into his own end zone. Ball is put in play at spot of interception.

(b) Player intercepts a pass in his own end zone and is downed in the end zone, even after recovering in the end zone. Impetus came from passing team, not from defense. (Touchback)

(c) Player passes from behind his own goal line. Opponent bats down ball in end zone. (Incomplete pass)

I never knew about the 1-point safety though, that is interesting
