Good to see this getting a quicklook. The Hex was a very neat game that sadly got a bit overlooked compared to the attention that Pony Island enjoyed. It's a lovely genre-blending meta thing that knows when to switch it up.

I've seen enough here to know that this is yet another GOTY contender. This dev is seriously underrated!

was originally not going to watch this because i'm definitely going to play it, but seeing that vb's on the ql makes this a must watch for me

I don't have much interest in this game but I'll gladly watch any QuickLook with this crew.

More Jess (aka VoidBurger [aka VB {aka Veebles}]) is always welcomed in my book.

I know it's difficult to schedule, but having a strong crew (J or otherwise) on Quick Looks is really great. The discussion about the game is more engaging and focused compared to when one is covered on UPF. Those tend to be more distracted by wild tangents and side conversations. Good preparation is really evident on QLs. I don't expect this treatment can be afforded for most games, but I'll appreciate when it can happen.

I played a couple hours of this last night and I'm hooked. Can't wait to see where the weirder elements go to.

Great job hosting, Jess! I'd swear you'd been doing QLs for years, and it was nice having most of the J team as the peanut gallery.

I liked the demo somewhat, but it was still enough of a card game that I was not really into it, despite the subversive elements.

My game of the year for sure so far. The what I'll call "main path" is perhaps a bit too easy considering I beat it in a night, but the game still seems to have a lot of surprises up its sleeve, so I'm excited to see where it goes. Though a lot of the easiness came from the luck of the draw in getting my "death card" to be a one-blood 7/7 card that hits twice, which just meant a ton of my fights ended before the opponent even got to do anything.

But as alluded to, this game gets weird.

Awesome Quick Look. Like that it was focused on the game and got it across well. Voidburger is an amazing Quick Look host and enjoy seeing her in more content. She is very Giant Bomb.

Played the demo and I liked the vibe and battle mechanics but unfortunately I'm too bad at deckbuilding (I have to use premade decks in other card battlers) to actually progress. So I might have to give this one a miss if it's this difficult, same reason I never got into Slay the Spire and similar games.

"Not here to skink shame" might be the funniest thing on GB in 2021.

Strangely, there's a major 12 Minutes spoiler mentioned in this QL, lol.

@whitegreyblack: If you're still interested I can tell you the card game part of it is not really 'the point' of the full experience.. meaning it's a game that wants you to beat the card battles pretty quickly, it gives you a lot of ways to make your deck stupidly overpowered so you can keep advancing the story.

I really enjoyed the quick look itself, but as someone who really enjoys strategy games (of which I include card battlers) a lot of the battles were painful for me to watch. In a way though, I guess it might be a good thing as it makes me want to get in there and play it better myself.

Just finished this today: If you're interested in this at all, go and get this immediately and don't look a single thing up about it. It's actually incredible.

I'm with you. I'm not even typically a card game person, but this one is just simple enough to be accessible at first, and it was compelling enough to make me want to learn to play better.

I'm 8 hours in, have beaten the boss a couple times and solved most of the puzzles. The game has just taken a turn that makes me reconsider the entire experience. I have no idea where no idea where it'll go from here, but it's already my GOTY.

GOTY so far for me. I'm not generally a spoiler-adverse person, but this is one I'd very highly recommend going into blind.

There seems to have been some confusion about how flying characters work. Even though their attacks go over ground characters, they can still be attacked from the ground.

This reminds me of that game "Hand of Fate," only replacing the minimalist Arkham-style combat with more cards. Which I'm great with, if I'm being honest, this seems entirely like my jam!
