SKATE OR CRAFT. CRAFT AND SKATE?
Jeff Gerstmann's Pro Skater
2 Seasons •
How many benihanas can Jeff land as he plays through all the Tony Hawk games and an assortment of Tony Hawk knock-offs?

This series is the best!
Definitely napped through the live stream, thanks for getting what's sure to be a massive archive up quick!

Great idea for a series. So many good memories of THPS 2 on Dreamcast.
Tony Hawk 2 definitely has the worst selection of levels.

The series lives! IT LIVES! And it's going to be really great for the next few games. So glad this posted!
Yep, still the best intro.
this video is TOO good. please upload that intro.
That opening is a work of art

Is it just me are does the first game have better visuals??
And people say GBWest doesn't give a shit anymore.
This was a fun time! Ben creating a craft skate park on the side was a nice touch. Maybe don't worry too hard about completing all the goals right when you open the level for the next part, since you can come back when you have increased stats :x
Its the guy from Static X that died not powerman . Its funny because when I heard the song start I thought the same thing, but then it hit me it was the static X dude.
Edit : they worked out it was static X
man i loved tony hawk 2x on OG xbox. I played the ever loving shit out of that game and got real good (at least compared to my days on the n64 and playstation).
been stoked to see more of this series.
Man 3 hours, perfect to accompany me as I sweat out this red sox and astros game and do tests for school!

Another game I played the demo for 10+ hours and never owned as a kid.

I just realized that we haven't seen rorie behind the new desk yet.
Bring on the Lagwagon!
As someone who played the Dreamcast version it is kind of unbelievable how much worse this version looks.
An all-time PS1 classic, now with Tech Decks!
I feel like they should've done an edited intro of Jeff doing a couple more Benihana's in it.
Everybody likes School 2 but it’s maybe the only level from that game I remember. Starting to doubt I ever even played 2. If it wasn’t for the soundtrack. A lot of open space levels to show off the new feature, manuals. I guess so many 1 & 3 levels got remastered over the years, and School 2 is probably the level brought back the most often, that the rest feel like you haven’t seen em since 2000.
I'm canadian so I'm getting really high

hell yeah look at that PSOne.
@infinity_thor: I remember THPS2x getting a lot of hate at the time because THPS3 was already out on PS2, but man, I still loved it. So many good levels, and maybe the very first Xbox game that I dove really deep into making custom soundtracks for.
Watching this is just making me depressed that there is a 0% chance this game ends up on the PS Classic
What was Jeff talking about with the music for Tony Hawk 3 on N64? That wasn't even on N64, it was GameCube, PS2, Xbox!
You're all right: Warheads were hot or sour, though the hot ones were pretty short-lived and not nearly as popular as the sour kinds. They weren't cinnamon, however, they were still fruit flavors. I think they brought back hot ones again not too long ago, but I have no idea if they were similar to the originals.

Can't get over how good the intro is.
@swiftoid: I can confirm that I own a copy of Pro Skater 3 for the N64.
THPS3 actually did come out on the 64 Swiftoid, I remember seeing it at my my blockbuster and just being extremely confused lol.
holy shit, the casual nature of ben just pulling out a box of craft supplies to start making a techdeck skate park mid stream. god i love this website about videogames.

Or, as he was affectionately known as around here, "The guy from Wheatus."
Ah, Venice Beach, making 11 yr old me wonder why Italy had palm trees, and thinking the magic bum's name was Ollie.
Watching this really brings back memories of playing on PC (on a keyboard, hammering that spacebar to grind up those walls in School II).
thinking the magic bum's name was Ollie.
It is, but this isn't really revealed until he becomes a playable character in THPS3.
Jeff "Benihana" Gerstmann strikes again.
Jeff the only skater that can do FLYING T-POSE
That Styles of Beyond track is still a banger.
@morphinekissed: I've now dug out Pennybridge Pioneers because of this top quality content.
Always bums me out a bit when the N64 versions of these games are brought up and are summarily dismissed as being shit. That was all I had, so that was all I played. And I loved the games all the same. Watching this, the graphics are practically identical between the two. I didn't know they were considered worse until I started coming to this site, actually. I honestly never noticed the music issue, because I didn't know any of the songs outside of the game.
@swiftoid: Can second the fact that I own THPS3 on the N64. That one, I will acquiesce is pretty bad, since I played the PS2 version at a friend's house before discovering it was on the N64. The difference for that game is comical.
It was funny to hear Ben talk about Shaun White as if he's old and Brad asking if he still does anything when he won gold at this year's Olympics.
Probably the best worst intro I've seen in a long time.

I’ll add that Wakeboarding Unleashed was actually rather decent though easy, if I remember correctly. The soundtrack had Pixies and The Stooges and Pavement and early garage-y Flaming Lips, which was exactly the kind of shit a high school kid coming off a shitty nu-metal phase needed in his life.
someone deserves a bonus for that intro
This series is radical and it is my fave.
Speaking of original Xbox extreme sports games, what about Amped? I remember liking that game at the time, but I recognize that there weren't exactly a ton of options on the Xbox shortly after launch, so maybe I was easy to please.
Also, Warheads still exist and are still great.
This was awesome!
