Jeff Gerstmann's Pro Skater

For me, I started skating in mid-school because of the Tony Hawk games but my idol was always Rodney Mullen.

Ben mouthing the words to Goldfinger's Superman every time it came on made me really happy as someone who likes to do the exact same thing.

Really like this, looking forward to the 'also ran' games even more than the main THPS entries. Grind Session in particular.

B for Benihana

Benihana in to switch benihana is now officially The Gerstmann.

Already one of the top 5 GB features of all-time, and quite possibly the best intro sequence in GB history (that fucking spinning Christ air, my poor sides). Can't wait to follow this 'til the end, especially if they're actually gonna play THPS-adjacent stuff like the Dave Mirra BMX games. Jeff's reactions to stuff going wrong (slamming into walls, landing sideways, getting dominated by AI in comps) are priceless.

Also remembering how frustratingly difficult that second competition level is. Kareem had the run of his life with those 95+ scores.

Boy is Downhill Jam a downer.

Any word on how regular this series is gonna be? I need my Jeff/skater fix.

I have memories of really enjoying Downhill Jam because of the puzzle aspect of it, but I also think I saved most of its tapes for last when I had a fully upgraded skater.

I'm surprised this comment section has absolutely zero debate over Jeff's choice to roll with Tony Hawk! Bob Burnquist was always the obvious choice IMO, especially for the first time through the Career mode. His specials popped quicker than anybody else's and made the competitions way easier than the other skaters, especially if you had a play style like Jeff's (I was also very vert-dependent). Hawk, on the other hand, has three pretty pedestrian specials and The 900, which is almost impossible to pull off outside of the very first level.

If I remember right, my three favorite skaters in this game were Burnquist, Rowley and Lasek in that order.

God I'm so hyped to hear this is on the books as an episodic series. Thanks guys.

The great thing is those score-based challenges become absolutely trivial once they introduce the flatland system, especially since it counts as a combo so the timer doesn't end until you actually land the trick.

Edit: Also, ketchup sucks and doesn't belong on food.

Super awesome video, great idea for a series and dear lord that intro. I definitely second that you should do whatever games you do in chronological order!

Hey guys, there is nothing wrong with eating scrambled eggs with ketchup. That being said, I have not had scrambled eggs in a long time.

Enjoyed this a lot, and looking forward to more in this series! Sounds like a fun concept, and Jeff’s history and enthusiasm for these games will make for a good time.

HOW IS THIS A YEAR OLD

I came back to watch this one after the BMX XXX vid and this is such a good palate cleanser. This game has frustrating parts, but it's fun to watch.
